all this shite about reliability/parts cost/ etc, who the fuck buys a cozzy coz they want a reliable car utter shite, ive yet to hear of a genuinly reliable tuned cozzy i.e. more than a year without summit major bustin, the whole point of buyin a coz is the image/scene/performance/potential etc NOT reliability/rust free / cheap parts etc etc, if we all were sensible and wanted a reliable sensible good looking??? fast car the 200 would win everytime, BUT and its a big but, we dont , we buy them coz they are cooooooool as fook and when tweaked can blitz most stuff and bring supercar performance to us mere working class lowlifes for micra money, now who can resist that

cozzy- dont fuck with me 90's drug dealer image/ fast as fook/unlimited tuning potential which you can do monthly for realistic cash/ brilliant social scene etc etc

200sx- old bloke who wants to be cool but really is sad as fuck no freinds, bloke called roger and is ginger who is also a hairdresser limp wristed battyboy i,everytime i see one i expect a tart to be driving and am quite suprised when its a bloke/reliable (so fuck!)fast/ etc

No one compared the 200sx to the Skyline. They are just different cars built for different reasons. The 200sx is pretty much the same as a Sierra Cosworth, they are lightweight, and can be made to go quick but at the expense of refinement and drivability.

200sx looks melted to you? Fine, but don't go round passing out as if a Cosworth is a work on art because I can easily list 50 things that *I* find awful about the Sierra.

the reason and what i meant by that point is that people seem to think we have problems with the car because its japanese and i was saying that aint the case as cars like supra's etc are japanese and we think that they ARE cool its just not a appealing car in a lot of peoples opinion,

and as for listing 50 things, do it mate, and i'll start on that work of art in your sig,

and just for the record a good saff looks well cool imo where as not many 200's look very good at all

What *you think* is cool does not represent what other people think. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but your opinion is misinformed and therefore invalid and just plain childish.

No one cares what you think of your saff. I am happy with my 3 door rwd coupe, you are happy with your little 80's 4dr saloon and you can keep convincing yourself that it is cool untill you are blue in the face, but don't shove it down other people's throats.

I've driven a few S13 & S14's

Great cars

S13 is a bag of fun for the money and S14 is a seriously capable car, it's excellent.

Wouldn't swap for my saph though.

I personally prefer the look of a cossie to the 200SX

I prefer the more 'seat of your pants' driving of my saph And don't think you could get a 200SX to go as quick as cheaply as a saph.

I'm not blinkered at all, I just make my own choices.

Different strokes and all that

you are sooooooooooooo wrong on a few accounts ,

1. i think a good saff looks cool.............along with absolutely shitloads of people on here so 'what i think is cool 'DOES' represent what other people think so shove ya childish comment where it dont shine
2. i WASNT talkin about 'my' saff i was talkin about saffs in general and if you think i am going to take advice from someone who drives a crock like yours you are sadly mistaken, go into the bathroom , shave your tash off, wipe off your fake tan ,take off your gold chain and burn your collection of magnum that i know you have , and just for the record my car is a 92 j reg car so that doesnt make it a 80's car unless i'm mistaken, but dont fear mate i will be happy with my shitty 4.6 sec to 60, 80's leather clad,4wd,shitheap at least iwill be untill i can achieve my goal of a 3.0 automatic grandads version of a already embarrising car,

be real mate. saffs look shite. waste of an engine....

at least with the 200sx, they are all sporty cars, none came with shit engines.

if you parked yours on the street, you'd get an oldtimer come up to you and say "i used to own one just like that. its was a 1.6 LX"

you could say saphs are polished turds

i'm not really a fan of cars with all those doors

i also like the way you say you don't care about reliability and everyone you know has had problems but they are good performance. you can get the same level of power from a 200SX and it wouldn't go wrong all the time, and even if it did, it'd cost less to fix.

a 2wd saph can't be chosen over a 200sx on performance as a SX would skin one alive on the track. (std vs std, same mods vs same mods, etc)

you can admit it mate, the reason you don't own a SX is because you either didn't think of one when looking for a car or they were out of your price range at the time

I think that owning a Cossie is a thing that people are proud to have done at least once in their lives, and everybody should try it once. When you were a kid it was always "Wow! Is that a real Cossie?? Coooool!!", I doubt many kids had posters of 200sx's on their bedroom walls!

The car to have isn't always the technically best car IMHO! Yes the 200 won't have an interior that looks like it came from a Landrover Defender, you might not be playing spot the new rust bubble every time you shammy it and it might not give people the instant impression that you are a complete hooligan. But that's all part of the fun if you ask me!

It's a 15 year old, over priced, rusty, smoky Cosworth thing - You wouldn't understand

But seriously, Escy

At least you have something more sporty to start with when you get an SX. It's a coupe for one thing not a saloon, it has around 5 years advancement in chassis development for those who are interested in making it handle on tracks, and it actually has some interior without weighing one kilogram more than the Sapphire.

Phill, i totally understand the Cosworth thing. one day i'll own a 3dr or EsCos. its my mission in life.

i never really loved the saph as much as i did with the other 2. i'd spot one and be like 'cool, a nice saph'. put it this way, when i get to a car show like Ford Fair, i don't rush straight over to a stand full of saphs. to me they aren't anything special.

people say a 200sx is a poor mans skyline. i'd say a saph is a poor mans cossie.

don't get me wrong, they are nice cars and i'd have one. they just don't stir the emotions like the other cosworths do for me, and when you compare it to modern machinery like a 200sx they seem shit.

saffs do have a bit of a "less special" tag than 3 doors or escorts, and yes they are cheaper to buy, but there are much more discreet, you can pile loads of mates in and still go fast and the modding potential is endless ( trust me I know ) Anh, how much does your supra weigh? think you will find a cossie is considerably lighter a good saffy will whup most things on the road I do like 200sx's, but as Phil said, a cossie is more things to more people in my opinion, they were THE performance cars of the 80's and early 90's, I don't see many cars from that era with such a strong following, and remember you are comparing a 80's car (cossie) to a 90's car like the 200s14a I notice that the s13 is being very well ignored
I vote saffy cos yes, I am a ford man at heart, but I think you get more "car" for your money , 5k can get you a very very nice saffy 2wd or 4x4

Stop!!

Please leave my poor saffy alone, some of us can afford whichever we want and still choose a saff cos we DONT want fookers staring at us and we DO have families.

Please continue....

AROFLMAO!!!

Usually I try and stay kind of balanced and see both sides of an arguement but what a load of shit

You own a S13 mate.

They are cheap as chip and not that great.

Nothing compared to the S14 anyhow.

I could have bought 10 wanky S13s with the money I've spent on the saph over the last two years but give me that time again and I'd still have my saph parked in the garage

To be honest the fact that we are spending so long comparing the Saph to the much newer and advanced 200SX shows how good the saph really is

cheap means that parts and insurance also is. i can't think of a better budget performance car thats similar money that i could get insured on (with as much potential). they aren't bad cars and if you put one with 280bhp (which mine is) up agaisnt a 280bhp 2wd saph and they saph would get smoked (drag/track/drift).

anyone got a stg1 to disprove my theory

ive edited your post to include my response

=sorry mate we dont really leave em in the street , too desirable to low life becaause of the performance unlike the 200 which you could leave in mosside and nobody would touch the shitheap

you could say saphs are polished turds

=whearas 200sx's are just plain old turds

i'm not really a fan of cars with all those doors

=you dont need them as people with these cars have no mates to fit in the back

i also like the way you say you don't care about reliability and everyone you know has had problems but they are good performance. you can get the same level of power from a 200SX and it wouldn't go wrong all the time, and even if it did, it'd cost less to fix.

=£500 for 340 bhp, how much for a 200sx to get that power???£3k-4k???

a 2wd saph can't be chosen over a 200sx on performance as a SX would skin one alive on the track. (std vs std, same mods vs same mods, etc)

= utter shit , std 200sx is 174bhp whearsas coz is 204bhp, so your way down on power before you start, 200 = 0-60 7.4, coz =5.7 so yeah you would skin a cozzy

you can admit it mate, the reason you don't own a SX is because you either didn't think of one when looking for a car or they were out of your price range at the time
= listen you tit, like most people on this board i'm not short of a bob or two, for example ive just spent 7k on a cooker,15k on cars,30k doing my house up so believe me i could have bought pretty much anything i wanted but 4 weeks ago i CHOSE to buy my second saff, the reason........i like em!!!

why did you buy that shitheap??? dont tell me coz you like them better than a gtir/skyline/type r/ or is it because YOU cant afford anything better than your £1500 snotter ,p.s. if you took them lights off your car you would prob get £1800

anycar that came as an auto from the factory in the 80's/ 90's aint a true performance car, having an auto box says it all grandad

Now I doubt that you're even an adult, more like the younger kid brother of someone who does own a car.

Some people prefer the newer more advanced 200 sx coupe over an old saloon, so get over it.

The SX can go just as fast, handle just aswell and is better built than the most Ford from the 80s. Better built as in reasonable interior, chassis stiffness and it weighs LESS than your damn Sierra. The SX is just the *better* car if you don't need 4 doors. So get over it.

Yes, you're right, I never been in a "stage 1 cozzy", but I have certainly raced and beaten cars faster and more powerful than that.

you've beat cars quicker than that in that thing in your sig which has 280 brake and weighs 1570kg, which is 350kg heavier than a saff and has a utterly shit auto gearbox to lay all that power down YEAH RIGHTO BILLY BULLSHIT you have to get nominated for the biggest dreamer on passion ford mate, your car would struggle to do 60 in less than 7 seconds pal, and your 1/4 mile would be about 15 1/2 seconds so go and find a corner and have a quiet word with yourself about talking bollox and believing it. how heavy is a 200sx anyway mate as i think that will surprise you aswell, they are not the weight you think they are, and lastly you dick, how on earth can you even begin to comment when you have never even been in a cozzy at least i have been in 200sx's old and new and ive even had the misfortune to have a go of those heaps you own which is why i KNOW you do not know what your talkin about

and as for me being a younger brother etc, there are plenty people on here who know me and i aint what you think i am

Standard Cossie and standard 200sx are almost exactly the same up the 1/4. No way a stage 1 RWD saph would lose to a standard 200sx. Fat poncy Mk1 Supra would get hammered whatever because of gold chains

Please answer me this, is escy's car a S14? Because that's the S14 200sx in that parker's link.

The S13 200 sx(the one Escy owns) is low 1200 KG, some examples are 1180 kilos.

Also EIL132, the E36 M3's are nice daily drivers, but they are hardly lightweight racers. 320 HP EVO edition weighing in at 1530 KG unladen. That's 20 kg away from my car mind you.

how on earth can you even begin to comment when you have never even been in a cozzy
Funny....

Because the Sierra Sapphire Cosworth's share the same interior and chassis as non-cosworth Sierras. I can comment on the interior and quality because I have been in enough Sierras. Cosworth is a powertrain manufacturer, not a car maker. The "Cozzy" is still 100% Ford of the 80's. Seriously, get that through your head.

But of course, despite that fact, your's is a special super cool leather clad STAGE 1! Packing out 300 Cosworth HP (250 real HP).

I don't have problems with cars that make 100hp less than mine (your car for example), it's YOUR problem if you can't accept that I'm not in awe of the 4 door 4 banger, or brand blinded to the blue oval such as yourself.

i'm 19 so insurance is a big factor. was a student when i had it also. money is a massive factor. i'm happy though, paid for it all myself. my mates all have things like 1.2 Clio's so i'm not doing bad.

also, i prefer my car to Saph's.

i have been in a stage 1 cossie. Spikey's when at stg1 (think it was 282bhp). only went in it for 1 0-60 run which was 6.2 i think. felt really quick at the time. (but i hadn't been in anything quick untill then)

my car is running similar power and it'll do 0-60 <6 easily. seen a stage 3 car (S13 like mine) do high 4s to 60 with a perfect launch.

also, when i was saying about std car vs std car around a track, i ment an S14a not an S13. remember, the 200sx has a very good chassis and lets be fair, a Saph isn't know for its handling capabilities. i've seen Saph's on a tight race track. they don't handle for shit, all over the place. a 205gti was quicker

since that pic it has 300zx alloy 4 pots and M3 disks

i'm not a hater on Fords, i fucking love them its just i can see that a Saph clearly doesn't match up to a S14.

Strutbrace, you say you've been in a S14. whats your opinions on the handling, power delivery and braking compared to a saph?

FFS Anh/Strutbrace sad coonts arguing about shit its obvious neither of you got a fookin clue about, getting most the shit you say totally wrong, you blatantly have never had any experience of the car your attemptung to slag off (Ive drove plenty cossies of cossies, inc the one i owned for 3yrs, at least 5 S14s with various mods, 2 S13s one std one modded, and the misfortune to drive a slightly modded old Supra Turbo too, so i know whats best n what aint, and no pathetic kids at school style blinkers either...)

Anh- Jus fuck off mate, nobody cares, your here just to argue and talk shit, and you drive a heap of crap that nobody likes but you.
Strutbrace- Give it up! SXs arnt anywhere near as bad as you think, and Saphs arnt as good as u think, neither are amazing, but they both good cars.
Just carring on and on and on is just making yourself look like a blinkered goon!

Its still true that if you did this poll on any neutral forum (ie non nissan and non ford) i bet the SX would totally piss the votes, but who gives a fuck.

Heres some cool pics from the weekend

S14 left, S13 middle, S14a right.

S14 in front, S14a behind.

S13

S13

Frankly ive never seen any saff that looks half as cool as the pics above, but thats my choice and i respect anyone for prefering saffs, up to them, i love saffs too.
I dont have to be all gay n blinkered about it and go on and on about cars i know nothing about, just becuase someone has a different opinion of whats good n whats not.

I think you guys have gone way off why this thread was originally started.

It was if you had 5k what would you buy! not which car is better than what!

So stop ya bitching.

I had originally said that I would get a 200sx for many reasons stated above but not only that I would be able to get a very good one for less than 5k.

Cossie under 5k.... well you could, but it wouldn't be a very good one now would it.
