Default Improving recaros

i have some 90 spec recaros and im having them retrimmed, do u think it would be possible to fit the adjustable back support section and the heating element from some tatty scorpio seats i have. Im very big on improving the features of my car. my main worry is that the foam might get set fire to by the seating element and also how the adjutable back fits together.

advice appreciated.

are your seats retrimmed with leather mate?

then you don't need to worry cause a mate of me fitted the scorpio heating element into his MK5 Escort cabrio original seats, but he retrimmed them with leather.

then why should you need heated seats for mate?

normaly it's only used for leather seats, not for cloth seats

So do granadas.

Get down the scrappy and pick up a set of heated cloth seats out of a mk3 granny. And rip em apart and have a look. Wouldnt cost u much.

mine's got heated seats

i ASSUMED they came as an option on late saphs, but its quite likely that they were retro-fitted from a granada

theyre not actually all theyre cracked up to be... the seat gets nice n hot granted, but the rest of you is still cold also if you leave em on too long it feels like you bums is burning... lol

i normnally turn mine on for 10mins or so when i get in the car on a cold day, but then they get turned off once they get warm... can't leave em on long for too long or bum gets toasted... lol

I doubt u'd set em on fire, Im guesing the heated elements are contained within some kind of flame proof material, so long as you transfer that along with it.

Btw, its only the base that heats up not the back bits.

Can't say specifically about the Granada seats but most heated seats have elements in base and backrest.

The heaters should be relatively easy but the adjustable backrest could be a different story as the construction of Recaros (hard shell) and ordinary seats (wire frame) are very different
