What a great day, first RS day at Combe I have been to (strange as I live there!) and I was well impressed.
Thanks for the pics butterfly, of my impierial blue/electric orange race fiesta, quite regretting not coming out for a play now, as I do 1.19's on T1Rs in the Combe Saloons and it will do 1.17s on slicks, not too bad for a N/A 1400 with a standard bottom end!
I will have a play next year with a 1600 engine and put those evos back in their place!

I wonder how quick you'd go with say a throttle bodied 2.0 Zetec or similar under the bonnet? An ex race car like yours, with just such an engine would make a great track toy I reckon.
Very impressive

That's a crazy time for such a mild sounding car. As an example I have 575 bhp in my road going Evo, and driving pretty hard, I do 1.17s. I'd be crying as you overtook me in your Fiesta

I hoping to move up a class next year and have a 1600cc engine around 220bhp. .ish N/A Zetec SE, but the spec just depends what my apprentice budget can stretch to!!!
Alot of people think its an ex fiesta cup car, but Ive built it myself as it used to be my zetec s road car just over a year and a half ago, the shell has done almost 110k too! lol

fastest lap on the vbox Si was a 19.1 vmax 130
i'll make some nice graphs and overlay so its easy to understand
would be nice if you could get the ferrari vbox data!
was the fiesta's times properly measured?

Lines are pretty cool thing from the vbox, I wish I had that on my data logger! Avon rise/quarry and Esses could be improved a bit, ever had any instruction at Combe?

For interests sake, the below is from my Performance box as recorded last tuesday. It will be interesting to compare the data log input files.
Mine was a lap at 1:20.4 in a measily 420bhp powered porsche on road tyres (Michelin Pilots)

send me the file J
cavturbo@boostworld.freeserve.co.uk
cavturbo@boostworld.freeserve.co.uk
On its way
I have sent you the original full file that has many laps - once you have set the start line, the Performance tools will extract it for you - I think it is around the 7th lap. I was following a friend of mine for most of the laps, and the fast one came after I had to drop back from him through traffic! Set a faster one catching him up again!

Yay, we've got some numbers! Thanks Lee, I really hoped we'd grab something. I took Jasesapphy out for a session, and he timed at 1.17:5, 1.17:4, 1:17:4, 1:17:2. I believe Doug Stirling was timing similar numbers from the side of the track.
I'd expect the VBox to be most accurate of course, but presume or guess or hope the 1:19s above were on one of my slower sessions

For those that are interested, the below is a comparison of Si in his Mitsi (the red line) against my Porsche.
The graph maps speed over DISTANCE - not time. This is Si 1:19.1 lap (the fastest that Lee sent to me of the logged laps), against my quickest - 1:20.4.
Where the red line is above the blue line, Si is carrying more speed than me etc - quite interesting really!!!

very similar braking G forces too from both of you
.
the vbox is a great tool for trackday nutters. i set out the speeds as shown so when you return
all you have to do to better your lap time is increase 1 of those vmax vmin speeds while not losing to the others

These tyres are pretty much shafted now, so when they are changed, they will be changed for Pirelli Corsa System tyres!!!! They are hopefully gonna help me make up a little time! I need all the help I can get against these nigh on 600bhp Mitsys these days!!!! LOL

I know roughly where to go, and try to aim for the turn in cones etc, but that normally goes out of the window with the red mist you tend to get!
I think tuition in a Combe circuit car could be very useful.
I'm well aware at Quarry that I take odd lines, often due to be worried about cocking up - seen so many big smashes there including a good friend. Always err on the side of caution.
Great to see the lines from overhead though - will have to work on them a bit more me thinks.

Never had tuition there, as you can probably tell I just bounce about the track and try and avoid the grass as much as poss.

There are some very good instructors at most circuits that with just a few laps with you will learn so much, well worth the money.

I thought he was your mate Si and you were both playing! I did wonder why he didn't go past a couple of times.
I have loads of pics of yours Si - I will upload them onto PB in the next couple of days - I took them all at max resolution though so they take ages

SiBs evo was great, It was really nice having a passenger lap in that, very very quick, we had a really fun day in the gooon, a low down misfire slightly hampered our day, but keeping it above 4K it was ok
We are looking at an engine rebuild now for it, but we had great fun
Spikey's car looked great from what I saw
Its a shame because wen your on track you miss everyone else going around unless there on track
There were some very quick cars at combe yesterday, also loads of Mk1 and Mk2 escorts on track which was good to see
To older skylines were a bit shocked at the fords and Mitsi's, oh and the Austin
Nice to meet SiBs little Bro (sorry cant remember his name)
We met some great people, had lots of fun, had a few repairs, had a few laughs
Got back last night knackard and sun burnt
It is, and will always be, my favourite show of the
year

real treat for those that stayed til the end....the Whatcar.ie mk2 bright green escort had the track to itself at 5 o'clock...he missed his ferry.
did one hell of a session put the drifters to complete shame....mad!
goes to show fords rule

Great stuff folks, just what I wanted to see.
Would have been great to have raced (oops, it's not a race of course ) JJ on track at the same time - looks like there would have been next to nothing in it.
I'm curious now, looks like we'll have to have a real rematch to see what's what!
Thanks JJ and Lee, great to see how this data can be compared

Technically, you must run officially approved Porsche tyres (N rated). To be fair, I dont believe that there is the slightest bit of difference (bar the price of course!!! LOL), but if you have a warranty, they can refuse to renew it if you dont have approved tyres on the car! (just dont ask!!! LOL)
Let me just clarify that I quite like the R888s, but sometimes it aint worth the argument with porsche!
To be fair, I think that the Corsas are a little easier to live with day to day, and are slightly less terrifying in the wet!!!
