I think you guys should stop & think sometimes. The thread i locked was about Fighting Torque & i was advertiseing the event for the organiser who is a friend, I received 2 entries from this Forum, both being sensible enough to apply off the thread. The thread was turned into a Ford big willy event & all the usual abuse that brings so I locked it & Dave started it up in its own thread. Unfortunately it looked as if i locked it to stop Martin entering I didnt.

Can i also say ive been given the chance to attempt the RS Cosworth Topspeed record in another mag & thats the plan. No cowardy custard or chicken just a chance to have my last run covered exclusively, what would you do. The Missus wants it framed as a 65th present so it only needs to be my car on the cover not Big Will & all his mates .

Ive spoken to Mark & he thinks that is the best plan & anyway my car wont be ready certainly untill October to long for this event I fear.

Then you have no Idea what it takes to run his car at full power and the costs of rebuilding it if it goes wrong,
Rod only wants to run it once more in its all out spec and I totaly understand the way he wants to run it and the mag set up,
You can call a person chicken who boasts he could be the fastest if he tries but never does.
Remeber Rods car is the fastest YB cosworth what deos he have to prove, Noone has beaten him yet if someone does and then he says he could beat it but never tries then you could call him chicken.

At the end of the day rod will have the fastest cossie untill proven otherwise but for every other person competing they do it them selfs & take the glory. With rods you will get the glory for building the engine & rightly so & the driver will for doing the speeds the car is capable of. What does rod get out of it? to sit & say my car is faster than yours behind a keyboard.

Everyone goes against him on this forum and sometimes i feel its unfair, I dont know the guy but i do however have respect for the passion and persistance he has had, to at least finance the fastest cosworth in the world.

why cant other people just be happy with that, so what if he does not want to drive it.

Lets just concentrate on how good the thrash will be even without Rod and wish Dave and martoon good luck in beating him or eachother!

I'd put up as you always claim you will do, and if the motor does what it undoubtedly has the potential to you will have an outstanding 65th birthday present, proving beyond any doubt that your car is the fastest and that you proved so in beating all the other "top boys" in the game fair and square.

Or is it the fact that someone might just be crazy enough to use more nitrous or strap on a rocket lifted from the NASA spares bin that making you hold back?

I'd much rather see that happen than Rod vs......everyone,lol. Maybe chuck in a few other 700hp 4wd yb's to fill an event out a bit. Then maybe carry on the "grudge match" series on a few track days or qtr miles???

I think Rod has the best idea in running his car for the reason it was intended at the event he wants to run and make it mag feature, simply because nobody else is daft enough to make a cossie that does what it does.

Kevin, I believe that Dave's, Martin's and AndyG's are all currently working, so its very possible if DanW can move fairly quickly before one of them has a problem or decides to pull it apart looking for more power.

Real shame if Rod doesnt attend though, especially after literally years of him asking again and again for a chance to a head to head with Martin!

HA HA Chip, must be almost as many years as weve all been waiting for Rods car to actually move under its own steam!!!

That said I think mine must almost be ready to challenge Rods title of "looking cool in the garage or workshop" title!!!

I would eat my house if phone calls have not been made between camps regarding this, remember this is internet world and a couple of posts made on here takes seconds, i bet Rod/Martin ect are closer than what it would seem on the internet.


Seems a fair conclusion having Rod have his exclusive and the other 3 shoot it out between them,, both mags will sell by the bucket load, but either way times can be compared and will be argued disputed for months regardless of who attended on what day.....

I'd love that, but i doubt someone would spend 2k and several days on a ferry/trailer just to have a handful of goes up a strip. You would need several people from Europe committed and if they cancelled or were delayed it would be a 'mare.

Im sure DanW will just stick to his original idea of 3-5 200mph capable UK cars and leave it at that, the moment you start all the "wouldnt it be cool if......" is when the event then spirals into something that will never happen.

Exactly chip, even with 3 cars it would be a good shootout & read no politics just them getting on with it.
Spoke to charlie shaw 10 mins ago he isnt into top speed if it were a 0-60 & 0-100 event as well he would have been up for that no probs.
