Default Why the F*****G Hell do we like Fords (old ones)

As said in title, why the fudge do we love our old Fords?
10weeks of ownership of my 89 rsturbo, I'v haad to stop on the side of the road, because of the car.
First day, fuel relay switch when!week of the road waiting on the part.
Second time, fuel gague packs up and sticks at 1/4 so i run out of fuel, not knowing how rsts are on fuel! yes TIT!
Third time had to stop on the m40 cos the nearside hub nut thought it be funny and undo its self! wicked! No tools with me, rainning and pushing it on time for a wedding, thanks to a very wicked AA man who help me out and im not with the AA, and it was free!
Fourth time boost pipe out of the turbo popped off after a good 30miles of early sunday morning driving, had to sit on the side of the road for an hour wainting for thing to be cool enough to touch! Dont you just love watching everyone smiling as they drive by!

Now on to the last 7 days!
failed mot on friday, on nearside TCA, only thing not to bad for years old, so popped off got a new one form my local parts place, when to fit it next day foud out i was the wrong one, now i got the car sitting on axle stand late on Sat, cant do anything till monday now! Ordered one monday eveing, pick the replacment up tuesday night, when straight home to fit it, found out its a bit more of a job for just one, well my skill level, now what the fuck am i going to do at 9 at night with the mot rebooked fot the next day!Fuck it, J and bed!
Wed after work, ring the lad doing my mot and explain, and he offers to come over on his way back home. Wicked a good thing!
anyway we fit it and it re-mot-ed the next day.
This mornig as it a nice day i took her to work with me, getting out of my drive i smack the exh on the floor cos the tit over the road thinking its funny to cover half out drive on his side of the road, narrow street. now its got a lil rattel! Than after picking up my yummy grease bap, nearly at work i hear a lil bang/snap, looking in the rear view thinking a stone or something had flick up and hit the car, but could see anything big enough to make that noise, fso forgot bout it, driving home from work my speedo has stopped working, guess the noise was not that the cable and snap and smacked the underside.
now got to drive the the GFs tonight on a t route that has atleast 5 speet cams, where the satnav, oh yeah her house!
I'm Loving Ford at the mo!

yea i spent nearly a month on my little mk5 esco before i actually got to drive it, sorting out rust and crap on it, it was the bollocks once i got it on the road loved every minute of it, wasn't quick just a nice drive and soo comfy, got 20,000 odd miles out of it with only some service items and a clutch in between, oh yea! and when i decided to drive like a tw@ that also didn't help but hey ho! learn from your mistakes and all that

thats the reason we like these old fords cos there a pain in the arse most of the time but when everything is going well it's just a memorable experience, and just the best laugh to drive, mine got written off i'm missing it soo much now , i need my ford fix again

I travelled from scotland to horsham when i bought my cossie.......drove it all the way home at 60-70 max and never missed a beat....

went out on the sunday morning and the fucker wouldnt start

i thought here we go lol

lay under the back and wriggled teh fuel pump wiring and boom she burst into life

First job before my mate fitted all new sensors and a check over and set up lol

all down to some ham fisted cunt had fucked the connections so i stripped them and fitted new ones then greased them up good as new

But a list of small jobs every week does get on yer baps after a while and the lust for a newer car is always in yer head lol

It's a love hate relationship.

I sold my S1, was a great car but HATED the fact when ever I took it anywhere or gave it some beans I would be worried it would break down and i would have to get it home - it never did but you had that nagging sense in the back of your mind.

Where as my Civic Type R was as quick, practical and never broke down, so the RS would always be left in the garage.

Mine's never broken down, even with 160,000 miles on it, still does RR work.
Even when the water was pissing out nearly as fast as I could put it in still got home with stopping every 5 miles, cost a lot in bottled water though!!
I think if I had a car that never needed attention I'd find it boring, but I would have a healthier wallet!!

Its the " look at that poor bastard in his old motor" expression you get off people when you're sat at the side of the road that gets you as they drive on by.....

Its Frustrating Ive had so many chances to get newer cars. Ive even tried different brands. But I keep going back to buying old Fords. Most of my mates think im crazy.

I guess its just a unexplained addiction.

Newer cars are just too boring in appearence and basically dont need any tinkering with ! My old fords are both toys so like it when something goes wrong so i can fix it and make it better than ii was to start with !!!

It's no fun if it doesn't break! I just had to ride my bike for the 16 mile round trip to work and back because my RS is being welded up for MOT... lol

To be fair tho, I drove from Kent to Somerset and back with absolutely no problems whatsoever just last week, thoroughly enjoyed driving it that far too

For me interior is very important, as that's the bit you live with everyday, just prefer ford interiors, I like mondy mk1 too as seem a good up to date oldie!!
I drove from wells next sea back to wattonshire in a renault 11 that had broken yet another clutch cable, about 40 miles, the starter was a bit hot time I got back!!
Then went back to fords again, but also love Leyland stuff, esp marina.

I was delayed the other night by an '02' plate BMW 320d ( only made out the bootlid badge as the traffic had to crawl past at 5mph cuz of thick smoke ) stopped at the roadside pumping out loads of smoke. I suspect the turbo had gone in a big way...........

I was glad I was in an old Ford and not a newer car

Ops i bet the driver never lets the turbo cool down when he has finished driving it and they just turn the engine off so the the turbo spins dry and has propery fooked it.
