Maybe a few Fords would like to enter, straight drag over 1mile, 2 cars at a time so a few scores can be settled. For street cars only they will turn down, stripped out track cars.
Most of the fastest cars run in the high 170's but last year a Skyline ran a 201.3mph terminal, around 1000bhp required to do that in a mile .
Maybe a team could represent this Forum, just a thought.
It doesn't mention stripped out/caged cars Rod, it just says they need to be road legal. I does say no jet engines though, lol!
Indeed you are correct, BUT im a mate of the organiser & Know what they wish to promote . They prefer Veyrons, Lambo's etc. You can but try to enter Martin & see what happens. The statement below has been carefully worded to give them the final say, as cars turned up last year on trailers etc & were hardly road cars.
The Fighting Torque event is aimed at "Special" Standard or Modified road going cars. Fighting Torque is only open to road legal, taxed, tested and insured road vehicles. The fitment and use of aids to performance relating to speed or braking that would not be considered sensible for use on the public highway are not allowed. These include Nitrous Oxide, Parachutes, Jet Engines. The organisers will adopt a "common sense" approach to any anomolies. However it must be understand that their decision will be final.
They should write a clause in that to ask to see the last couple of MOT certificates, and the cars must have driven a certain amount of miles between MOT's, just to prove it is an every day road going car....
"Interior - Cars must be presented in road trim. The removal of seats or interior trim is not allowed."
Seems a bit churlish to me, but hey, it's not my competition.
They dont want it to turn into another totb with meg bucks companies winning everything. This event was fine untill modified cars like mine entered last year. The winning car last year had a Parachute & Nitrous . Most entrants just turned up with their everyday cars took off their cravats & had fun, its not meant to find the fastest modified cars in the UK, totb is for that. If you can run 170 ish in the mile your car will be competative, its a fun day out nothing more but a chance to run safely at high speeds. Mine would be accepted cos its fully trimmed & they see cages as a safety aid, but the Nitrous is a nogo im afaid, however i feel mine is not in the spirit of the event.

Can totally see that POV. I would have thought nitrous was fair game though.
Does seem more like a day out for toffs than an actual performance event.
Mark Mosley kicked arse last year (the guy in the skyline)... Just turned up done some runs collected winners trophy n just drove home...
and hes build the car himself. Was running 9.6 passes at the pod last weekend too. If Mark & Phil are going this year I may tag along as its nice and local. He does have a chute on the back though due to the pod regulations.

Absolutely thats exactly what it is much the same as VMax, good chance for the guys not chasing 190+ speeds to have a day out, lots of Cossies in that i guess.
Isn't that the idea? To win. You can't do that with 100 bhp unless your racing mobility scooters.
No it wasnt the idea of the event & was why myself & Mick Begley & were not allowed in the event itself. They thought everyone was under 700bhp.
Cars over that bhp were to run Demo runs, but thats not how it turned out hence the rule changes this year.
