That company was set up for people who have no idea how much the car is worth and to rip them off.
Seriously thou, if you can't get more than 2k for it you might as well get it scrapped on the goverment scheme.

mam got ripped off by them yesterday, shes heartbroken but she had no choice as she needed the money quickly for another reason.
2005 focus 2.0 zetec climate pack - £3100
worst part is, she'd just paid off 9k's worth of finance in full on it 2 weeks ago.

They offered me about £300 for my Fiesta RS Turbo (thought it was worth asking the question for a quick sale). They then spent the next several weeks harrassing me about taking up their offer. Sold the car for over £3k with a fortnight of advertising it

How can people call them a rip off? They offer you a price, and as an adult you either say yes or no? It's not like they load your car onto a trailer before they give you a lump of cash and drive off is it? ...

Rwd_cossie_wil, Agreed, its not a rip off its an expensive convenience, its essentially like a Pawn shop for cars.
You take a car in, they give you some cash, you leave, they then sell the car at a massive profit which covers the cost of all the advertising and they make their living out of it as well of course.
If you prefer the money to not selling it, you take what they offer, if you want nearer the cars value you accept that is more effort and sell it elsewhere.
Perfectly legitimate business as far as im concerned.
The bloke with the focus above, should have listed it on here for 3.5K for a quick sale, but you would have got it within 48 hours anyway!

a guy i sold a 6k impreza to last week recons he was offered £2100 for a v reg golf gti which i find very hard to believe.....
but he didnt try to part ex the golf as he was happy with what he was getting for it from them.....i would have given about £1200 for a 2.0 gti with 100k on it!
but as said above-how can it be a rip off? they offer you a figure-its up to you to accept or not.........if someone comes in to me desperate to sell im not going to pay more than i have to.

I was selling an 02 plate Alfa 147 6 months ago. It was just as the credit crunch had kicked off.
They offered me £1700 for it with no MOT or TAX. I was happy with that for a quick sale (had paid £600 for it and fixed it up - snapped cambelt). I took it there and they didn't want it, there was a guy that checks them over, he said he'd been offered it with the shot engine so had a downer on the car. He worked out it'd had a rear 1/4 from paint depth gauge and then offered me 1k for it. They were advertising similar cars for 4k+ in their showroom.
I sold it privately for £1800.
I think they can be off the ball with some of their valuations and offered me close to decent money on the 147. Shame they are propper anal when it comes to viewing.

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
Just looked what they reckon my cars worth,
£3015
Not bad for a 91k 53 plate Clio 172, doubt i'd get n e more advertising it myself, and if its a hassle free cash sale, then i'd be very tempted (if i wanted to sell).

Im also in the trade and have a fair idea of what cars are worth, so i got an "offer" of webuyanycar for my daily driver 406 hdi.
01 y reg, 126k, tidy car, they offered £755 for it, probably a couple of hundred quid behind book.
Not that bad a shout TBH but i suppose you cant go wrong with stuff less than a grand.
As for folks being surprised at how little they are being offered for cossies, why the big surprise? They only fetch decent money to the specialised audience such as ourselves, to the uneductaed in the motortrade, of which there are quite a few, they are just old sierras and priced accordingly.
Like Will says, they are a business which TBH are capturing a fair chunk of the market, especially folks who are in more urgent need for funds.
