Default Magpies

Are they double hard bastards or what??

Ive got two magpies that have started winding bunny up in the garden!! She stomps her feet like thumper, but they just dont move until i physically go out there to scare them off.

Are they likely to attack her?

They will probably attack if given the chance, we used to get alot of them in our back gardens even saw a squirrel having a fight with one on the back fence last year was comical to watch the squirrel was boxing with it lol. We dont get them round now since one of the neighbours put one of those big fake owls you can buy on his fence to scare the herons away from his pond.

I used to have magpies have a go at my rabbits.... they soon died with Myxomatosis. The vet put it down to the magpies carrying the disease and passing it on (tiny fleas, mite etc in feathers).

did you hear about the exploding frogs?

Magpies were flying down on frogs and pecking them in the chest, removing the liver from their bodies as they did it, the frogs natural defence is to blow its self up to make it bigger, as they did, they would hernia, and cos of all the pressure, they would explode !!! entrales could travel up to 6 foot !!!

i doubt they will do much to your rabbit unless its ill maria. if its big it will give em a hiding i reckon

Magpies are evil, they kill baby birds. I hate 'em.

I think Bertha's got nothing to worry about, they're probably just trying to work out wtf she is at that size.

Maria they are a pain but very funny, we have loads of them were i live and they gang up and bully my cat its so funny to watch because the cat jumps on the wall and its like watching gladiators fighting the magpie takes a couple of hops towards the cat then the cat backs off then makes a move on the magpie and they take it in turns! They do make a racket.

Bullet- we have woodpeckers and one of them knocks hell out of one of the steel post on the train track its mental and so loud.

Magpies are cunts-my granny watched a few magpies peck her cats eye out in a fight. I fuckin hate them. Next door have a kind of wild/tabby cat that they feed and it hides under my car regularly with magpies in pairs usually stalking round the car waiting to attack. They make an awful racket

I'd do something to protect the bunny. I've heard the magpie/cat attacks can be retribution for the cat making an attack but I'm not sure all I know is my granny had a wonky lookin one-eyed cat for years

Guzzler isn't far off

Legal in the UK with a license that is quite easy to get hold of.

pmsl. all this coming from a memeber of the human race.

we ARE the most disgusting species on the planet. we hunt for "fun",we pollute the earth with no thought of the rest of the worlds animals and intenet on destroying each other.

we kill lambs for food,we breed animals in the tiniest of pens for us to eat,we feed them growth advancers so they are ready to eat quicker or are fatter with better taste qualities in them and all of it in disgusting in humanine ways

all animals imo are a far better breed than us

Magpies are evil fuckers,

No animal food comes amiss to the Magpie; young birds and eggs, insects, scraps and carrion are devoured, but acorns, grain and other vegetable substances are not despised.

In country areas the bird, owing to persecution, is often shy, but in suburban areas it is common. Indeed, where it is not molested it courts rather than avoids the vicinity of humans. Also, it is known to team up in bands of two or more to "tease" cats, i.e. launch feigned attacks on the animals, perhaps as a general reaction against the cat as predator and egg thief.

In winter the Magpie becomes gregarious, wandering and feeding in small parties or flocks, and gathering at a common rendezvous to roost at night. Early in the year large numbers collect together for mating. Charles Darwin refers to these congregations as "marriage meetings".

A young European Magpie, fallen from the nest.
A young European Magpie, not yet fledged. The magpie has been observed taking small songbirds down, in flight, a behaviour once reserved only for birds of prey.
