Parcel Force wagon or simuler company lol

Was driving out of Bara's unit this morning following a 7 1/2 Ton truck and the chatter was un real coming from the thing.

Would have tried to get a vid but I would have probably crashed my car as I aint good at driving and using the phone

Chatter from a diesel.

iirc, diesel engines do not have a throttle butterfly, which means that the inlet tract is always open.

Also, it would've needed an open filter - I doubt much that Parcel Force trucks are running K&N 57i's

That all depends on exactly what the chattering was!

shit this is hard work if I had known I'd have crashed attempting to video it

It doesnt take a mechanical engineer to identify Turbo Chatter

No, but it does take some knowledge of what "turbo chatter" actually is, and what engine it isnt possible on

Compressor stall can only occur on engines that have a butterfly in the throttle, OR a restriction in the inlet whereby the engine is producing more positive boost than the engine can consume.

So, unless Parcel Force are tuning their trucks or fitting butterfly's in the throttles, then what you heard wasnt "turbo stall".

Same reason why diesels cannot have a conventional dump valve!

it was probably the air compressor blowing off or something

they tend to do that a lot on big lorry's and trucks and buses and stuff

Your knowledge of turbos and what they can do is amazing

they do chatter and it is possible ,
i work on em / drive em,
ur probabily forgeting the exhaust brakes they run, as well as the amount of boost those massive turbos they run provide meaning they can produce more boost then it will consume.

as its a parcel force lorry i'd say its a daf lf. we have a ex parcel force daf lf converted to a 7.5ton skip lorry at work & trust me that thing chatters like fuck. louder than any cossy i've ever heard. also one of the dennis dustcarts we have chatters sometimes. a short burst of full throttle in first then come off just before it goes into second & you get a faint chatter

Will be a Daf 7.5 tonner, 'pu-tooo' type of noise.
Used to change gear more often whenever driving a hired one.

I took the air filter out and left airbox un-done on a Kia Cerato 1.5TD company car a few years ago... and that had some chatter, although nothing too spectacular.

Cheers,
