Default Ford Fiesta 96 (P) Boot Lock - knackered

Hi Guys,

My boot lock is fucked.

Been looking around on eBay and people are saying they can tailor them to your key nember, anyone know how this is done? I'd rather do this than have separate keys for things.

Can it be done on any lock or does it need to be done from a new lock?

Anyone on here have any ideas how hard this is to do?

Anyone (registered traders only i guess) got a boot lock lying around?

So many questions for a sunday , all i need two weeks before going on holiday...it needs to be done before then or there's nowhere to put the flipping suitcases

Ford can build a new one up to your key number. They did it with the petrol cap on my RST

You can buy a lock barrel kit from your local ford dealer and build the lock up to your key.

I did loads of these when I worked at a ford dealer but you will probably struggle to do it if you've never done one.

I would buy the kit and just have a wander round to the workshop and have a word with one of the techs and ask them to build it for you for a small gesture! I think we used to charge about an hours labour to build and fit a new boot lock!! Only took about 15 minutes tops!

If you don't live too far from me I could do it for you. I'm based in watford.

take it to bits and rebuild it

whn you buy a lock it comes with lots of little rings numbered 1-4 and you put em in in the order your key is cut to

i can tell you the code if you want to email me a pic of your key close up

xr2turbot3@aol.com

if you remove your old lock you can take it to bits but have a nail in a bit of wood so you can put em on 1 by 1 so you dont get em muddled up

you basically have a barrel and you have spacers and numbered rings, you put in a spacer then ring then spacer then ring etc etc till it sall made up, you clip up the back so it stays together and job jobbed

i have a new ignition 1 with all bits to make up but no boot locks

google ford lock build and you will prob find a pictured guide
