Alright!
I'm Ste, I live in Leyland and i drive an escort gti.
Been lurking about the site for quite a while now, but never really got around to introducing myself or posting.
Got to say some of the motors on here are amazing; the time, money and skill that goes into them is almost beyond belief and has really inspired me to sort mine out a bit lol.
Which brings me onto a slight problem i'm having. Trying to sort out a couple of scrapes etc. I've prepped them and they're all primed but i can't get the paint now to spray them up
Been to halfrauds who flatly refused to help unless i knew the paint code which i don't.
If anyone knows where it might be on the VIN it'd be a great help. It's Auralis Blue if that's any help.

CheeRS in advance

Edited to add a pic of the car

Welcome to the site

If they dont stock your colour in halfords their always banging on about how they can make ANY colour you like, but i suppose they need the code to work with, hence why they didnt do it.

You'll find it, not like its a very old car

Yeah that's what i thought when i couldn't see any rattle cans on the shelf. Went and asked them to mix some but they wanted the code obv. They're also not allowed to look for the code on your car presumably so they don't get it wrong and sell you the wrong paint. Which is fair enough but not really helpful when big patches of my bumper are primed!

Thanks everyone! yeah i'm finding out quite quickly this place is a bit barmy. Still seems much more fun than a lot of other forums, at least there's a bit of banter here.

rs 1072 thought it was flint grey best colour for a saff imho

Last winter finally did the arches in with all the salt on the road i think.
Got a bit of rust bubbling up now in both arches. Someone kindly smashed into the side of my car the other week while i was parked up at work anyway so getting the rust cut out and new plates welded in when it goes into the body shop.

I had a black gti a couple of years ago, that had two rusty arches, nothing terrible, just abit grotty under the lip and didnt look good, so i got both done and also abit of damage to the front bumper and it all cost me about Ł450 all in

c.h.r.i.s. - i ain't been up there recently because i seem to be working all the time, next time i take a spin out that way i'll keep an eye out for ya. I'm sure the guy i bought it off lived in Hindley, or if not it was definetely around that way.

As per the wheels, i don't know what they can't find any manufacturer markings anywhere, they were on the car when i got it. Was looking for some RS7 softlines but they appear to be like hen's fooking teeth

Oh and Kosman, yeah moonstone's alright and all lol

Cheers Jimbo, i've just had a quick read of your resto thread and all i can say is wow!
I can barely believe that the car on the first page is the same one as the one on the last.
Big props to you on a total transformation. You've made me want to own a 1.4 escort
Has the previous owner seen it since all the work you've done?
