Default DVLA road side cameras

last tuesday i decided to drive my bmw coupe to work as i hadnt driven it for 3 months. just re insured it that day so had to wait a day or 2 till my covernote would arrive to tax it.

but on my drive to work i passed a vehicle parked in a layby with dvla vehicle checker written on it, and a camera on a tripod facing me in the on coming traffic, i managed to really tuck up behind the car infront so it prob saw my plate for a second at most..

just wondering if anyone knows how long it needs to be able to read a plate?

and if it did, how long does it take for them to get in contact with me?

oh and my tax was only 9days out.

cheers

it only needs a second if that to read, i remember seeing a programme on it a while back when they were spinning a number plate and it picked it up in no time.

1/2000th of a second it needs, records at 2000 frames per second, digitally.
Just get the tax as soon as the covernote arrives so long as you date it from beginning June there won't be any problem, you won't hear a thing, as they have to prove "intent" to drive without tax, I do this regular leave till end of the month in which it's due, heard nothing in over 20 years.
