what i always do is eat what the locals eat if youre on holiday, if not lemon spray helps keep them away, but then you smell of lemon.

DEET is the best stuff, can get it in a spray can, a bit pricey but works 100%.

as tabetha, a spray with DEET in it from the likes of millets, blacks etc. just don't sit on your cheap plastic sofa with it on.

We use Citronella spray on the horses and that works a treat.

a citrus air freshener and a small desk sized office cooling fan worked for me in holland where they used to bite like fuck. they done like a breeze either.
