E60 M5 vs E39 M5
has anyone driven both and got views either way.
I am currently looking for an E39 - but wondering whether to keep my saab and
wait for a year and save for an E60 next spring.
I prefer the exterior look of the E60 - not sure about i-drive - but not the biggest fan of the interiors.
I am going to test drive an E60 in a couple of weeks so will have a better idea.
thanks David

Hello Martin - still got that old thing LOL !!
I am still actively looking for an E39 but like yourself I change my cars regularly and can't help feeling I will want an E60 for the extra power.
the E39 would be a third car toy - the E60 would have to be a daily driver.
Alan - do you think the E39 is superior ?
Gareth - I like buttons - not knobs LOL

I can only imagine that the E60 is a huge improvement over the E39, it certainly seems it on paper, and the E39 is a pretty special car....even cars way over 100k miles still feel tight, sharp and prestigious!
I would love an E60, i'd swap the E39 for a 535 let alone an M5!

I could also move to the E60 but when you talk to people that made the move they are dissapointed with the newer car and miss the torque of the V8,It is a different experience rather than a better one.
Have a read of the M car article in EVO mag, they much prefered the E39!

I really can't get the E60 out of my head - I think it looks so good, but alas I cannot afford one yet without a loan which I never do for cars (old age - if I can't afford it I dont buy it)
so an E39 it will be for now.
thank David
