Stu @ M Developments, The post was for MarkK to see what sort of mapping power and configurability it has for a rallying colleague of his whos seen one second hand

The engine specs wont help you with the screens youve got see, as you cant see any modifiers, thats the whole point.

Bloody hell ! - How complicated !
I thought the post on how you map the old webber stuff looked bad enough but I'm amazed you know where to start with this !
Is there another ECU / management system that has the same sort of accuracy / control but without all the fancy features ? - e.g What does the Pectel T2 do without ?

Just had a quick count of a page, and there seems to be an average of 45 maps on each page.... and theres 17pages
765 configurable pages of data
As for features on various T rage systems, easier for you to jump onto Pectels website for that

gus pectel have actually developed a new feature on a differant ecu for you ( part number PCS-T12(GP))
fully GUS PROOF , come complete with 3x3 piece of hardwood that with small modification will have to be fitted to the lower part of the throttle pedal !!!

i suppose, if you know the system and someone doesn't it always seems more complicated then it is, knowledge only comes with learning and good tuition, something some peeps on here should look into rather than just blurting random stuff out
rant over.

tbh stu i think that that pectel ecu, and hence the perception of this thread, goes into way too much detail for the average diy'er.
most people are happy running their engine on something as complicated as L6 or L8, and you know better than most that to master mapping something of that complexity takes some time, nevermind introducing many more maps to correct for this, that and the other.

Stu - if i had a topspec engine - say 500bhp + YB - What would be a good guess at the full cost to map it on T6 using all the maps/tricks - Include fuel in the price too which on a 500hp YB wont be sweeties.
Just want an idea of what extra it would cost to use the extra benefits this ecu can do? As 2500 is a lot for an ecu then there is the cost of all the extra sensors then the extra cost of mapping - this looks like it could easy work out at the cost of a good cossie! .... which makes it useless to almost 99% on here

Hi,
I HATE saying this, but it "Depends"
I charge £500 - £600 std fee for live mapping pretty much anything turbocharged and £300 - £400 for anything NASP. To me T6 makes life easier not harder, so the fact theres more to do can be offset by the fact its less stress to do it, but if you were to start utilising features such as VCT it could get expensive as ive never seen a YB with VCT..
All the extra safety features on T6 such as oil pressure dependancy and EGT engine limiting are simple to map and would add maybe 3mins to the job for me so id probably map em in FOC.
Petrol, well it generally takes me around 20road miles to do the driveability maps and 20 road miles to do the top end so work that out based on current engine consumption along with perhaps 2hrs running in teh workshop to deal with general running and warmup maps, als etc. Its rare i use more than 1 - 1.5 tank/s to be honest.
Hope this answers the questions for you, but if not, please ask.

Sorry Pal, its correctly termed VVT... but for some obscure reason in my own mind i always call it Variable CAM timing and type it as such
For me? Why thank you

Cool amazed to see it only take 40 miles odd - thought all its features might add on quite a lot of time to test all the different compensations for every different engine spec/installation. I would see it taking hours to know how the car reacted to all different temps etc.

Thanks for that Stu.
As a comment, I know someone who is trying to adapt BMW VANOS on to a YB.
This will either work brilliantly or be a f**king disaster.
Hope it does work because I think he could make lots of money
I will see if he will let me take some pictures next time I see him.

If it was an engine id had zero experience with, and consequently had no base map to start with, then multiply it by 10 and it may just run well enough for me to let you have it back.
Bear in mind i wont give you back a car that doesnt drive something like a factory instalation, unlike some folk who gave one man i know a car back that required the ALS active for it to idle when cold
