A mate of mine used to loan money to people. but when they didnt pay on time he had to go looking for them. He used to pay me Ł20/hour to go with him.

What is the story behind this?
Anyone could pay someone money to go and retrieve some. Like I could pay a mate to go and get some money from someone, when in actual fact they were in the right.

story is
i win a ford focus off ebay damaged,sent him 50 true paypal then sent him 300 posted
took a few weeks for me to send him 500 but the man that was meant to lift the car for me never so he got pissed of got some1 else they did the same
then he said the dval has the car now but they dont and now the other i was on ebay i seen the car for again

After paying him the Ł850, which is presumably the price you bought it for on ebay, you're saying that two different companies/people you had arranged to pick up the car didn't for some reason? So then the seller didn't bother waiting for you to arrange another one and instead just sold the car to someone else or whatever?
Just trying to establish the facts.

post a link for the car up for sale again, if you can prove you have paid for it,then get somebody to collect it for you,if you have the paperwork the police should back you up as the legal owner.

its 15 minutes from me but i dont do other peoples donkey work when i dont know the people and even if that is the true story. for that much money make the trip up yourself.

I've offered to retrieve it for him a few times now, but had no more info.
Hes wanting 750, for me to retrieve that will be Ł400.
FOr exactly the reasons you said. Harthills hardly a quiet place and hes bound to be some kind of crazy
