Good question, wouldnt mind knowing from Will roughly what kind of extra cost/time is involved in mapping VVT too?

Audi 20V turbos have VVT if I remember right. Also Skylines and Supras.

Mapping from scratch is a drawn out procedure as advancing/retarding cam timing changes the amount of air inducted and hence the VE @ that load/boost/speed site. But changing the advance/injection to take advantage of the changed VE, will affect the resultant boost.... So to do it properly is a time consuming exercise. I should imagine that the OEMs do it by CFD modelling to get a start point and fine tune on the engine dyno.
