Default !!!HELP!!! MK6 RS2000 4x4 - Transverse box

I so need your help people. I have read some threads regarding the MTX75 Transverse Gear Box and have a few questions/queries!

I own a 1996 P reg Mk6 Ford Escort RS2000 4x4 and my front transverse box is f***ed!!!

I am really trying hard to find a second hand (after all they only made a limited no. of these cars) transverse box for my car which has now not moved for nearly 3 months! In fact it was originally unmoveable as the whole transmission locked. I was driving along the M62 when at 100mph it messed up ROYAL and I came to a quick halt on the hard shoulder (where I add the useless AA took 11 hours to get me home back to Birmingham - yes 11 hours!).

I have found 3 transverse boxes BUT all three were knackered.

Does anybody have a transverse box available for me to buy OR (this is where it gets tricky) can I adopt a different box from an earlier or later car (i.e. latest X-type Jag or Mondeo Ghia 4x4)?

I have never felt so depressed before, please help me before I get
certified!

its GEARBOXMAN.

i wouldn't bother with a second hand one of these mate-there not the best anyway and a bit of a risk to buy second hand. best to drop yours out and get it rebuilt by a transmission specialist. we are in walsall and i can give you the number of a couple of local firms who we've had do work before and have been reliable.

hth

Can't run it 2WD, that would send me insane with all that understeer and poor grip!

I'll try Bernie then , just looking at the website.

Thank you all for your help... need to look into this and see what is the best option.

Shitty luck mate

Try http://WWW.RS2000-16v.com for help, if anyone can help they can

Pics of what's inside your box.

The Mondeo transfer box is mean to be a different part number, but it might do the job if you are stuck.
