New FWD / RST Top Speed Record - My opinion
Morning all,
very recently got back into the county after a couple of weeks away. First things first....Congratulations to Paul Johnson!
Spoken to Paul & Ian etc and passed on my congrats. It's about time after over a year that someone broke passed 178mph. I told Paul to be confident and have faith that he could do it. If my turbocharger had not exploded and my engine spec didn't change again the record would of been broken yonks ago however as everyone knows the last time my car was on the road was over a year ago at Bruntingthorpe when it did 178.8mph.
I had recieved a number of txt messages from various people saying things like 'Paul was using race fuel and the weather conditions that I did my top speed run was so much diffirent to Pauls etc etc etc' however please understand that from my perspective 'winning is winning and results talk, not taking anything away from Paul....I did 178.8mph in what ever conditions/boost/pump fuel etc and Paul did 179.8mph in what ever conditions and fuel etc therefore to me Paul beat my previous record by 1mph regardless of conditions/race fuel etc and I am dead chuffed for him...it's as simple as that.
What does make me laugh is when people put up post titles like "SUNNY IS NO LONGER "THE FASTEST PERSON!!! and Sunny you have lost to this"
Myself, Paul and Ian Howell found this most comical as perhaps you should concentrate on giving Paul Johnson the limelight as it was him that got the title and perhaps wording the title of these threads like "Congratulations to PAUL JOHNSON for taking the top speed record" or something to that effect. It seems some people are more interested in bringing people down instead of concentrating on whats more important ie. congratulating Paul instead of rubbing it in Sunny's face.
Anyway, as I said before I am glad that the top speed record is still with a good mate and is still held by a Fiesta.
My new car and engine spec will be ready very shortly, rest assured the day it is completed I will be going back to Bruntingthorpe with a reply to 179.8mph.
Final Quote "Life without healthy compitition is boring!" IMO If I broke my record again and again as before it wouldn't be as interesting.
Thanks - Sunny.

Do you have any idea what 178.8mph feels like in a Fiesta? 2000 lb of pressure per square inch per second pushing back on your face. It feels like god himself is trying to rip the skin off your skull while someone lands a 747 on your chest.
lordy lordy

Thanks guys, one thing is for sure and that is 'the more sucessful a person is in this game it is natural to develop more and more haters hence you have to expect digs like these...all too used to it now.
Lewis - it's still FWD and it's still a FORD only diffierence is more power and improved setup. To complete the car fully time will not allow me to run at TOTB however I am sick to death of standing around spectating at events at over a year and now that the other cars are getting more faster and compitition is more healthy I may chuck it together to compete at TOTB and then complete the whole package in as much time as it takes (I still need to visit Dubai and America to discuss some of the options I have decided to take, as you can appreciate doing this on top of the usual engine build and install, setup etc takes alot of time). Rest assured IF I run at TOTB the car will be more powerful than my previous spec. I will let you know how I am progressing in the meantime and what decision I will make.
Off to bed now as I am back on the dreaded graveyard shifts from tonight.
Thanks - Sunny.

Fair play to you mate, spot on, better than all the pathetic lil bitches that go on n on about it.
I mean, its just for fun and you know it, its not like anyrthing changes in life is it!
The way people go on about it its like suddenly youve lost your job and money cause your not the record holder, or you being the record holder got you hordes of women falling at your feet, but being beat by 1mph makes them all leave as you not the record holder
People ONLY get wound up IMO when people try n wind em up, losing by 1mph to another car is no reason to get wound up, and fair play for not being, as whooo cares
Id actually feel ashamed of myself if i was one of the people who did actually get all upset jus cause they not the record holder anymore, as frankly, that is sad
Not as sad as when its not even them who holds the record, just somebody fromthe same "crew"
I think with PaulJs and Sunnys car at TOTB, the FWD fords have the top speed bit of it sewn up anyhow

Must admit i thought the "sunny you have lost to this" post was a bit out of order
A bit off topic Sunny but when your car pulled 178 mph what RPM did it pull to do that?

Steve (Itsmeagain) - has hit the nail bang on the head.
Bernie / Rudey - Yes....I've gone and done it.... I am now officially engadged now.
Ranj - hows the young gun? I've just come back from holiday and straight onto nights hence been extreamly busy...will give you a bell tommorow night hopefully for a catch up call.
Matt - thanks mate, new engine is almost ready however alot of other work going on at the moment. Should be done fairly shortly.
Andy - I pulled 7600rpm at 178.8mph on 17's however broke where they were starting to do the 1/4 mile runs at the end to give you an indication of how early I came off throttle.
Thanks - Sunny.
