the ECU is probably locked to the key, so you'd need to get it reprogrammed after or it wont start

guess BTW...

i would agree with jimbo on this!

all new cars r coded keys these days!

unless he is just guinna change the door loacks! but then obviously they can still start the car & he would have 2 different keys which is well annoyin!

the keys on tt like all VW/AUDI are programed using the geko systerm, what hell have to do is get a lock set from a dealer (i can get one), the new lock set will come with a key number and a basic key

once this is done it need to be programed by a deler/good locksmith that has access to the geko system, whihc is linked to the factory, and reprogrames the trasponder in both the key and the remote

cheers guys!

He's aware that the key will need programming, but its the physical changing of the locks i mean. Audi charge £50 to do the transponder, but £800 for the locks!!

Also, how would you get the ignition barrel out?? Someone told me the steering wheel / airbag will need removing????

well it shouldnt be that hard to take out as its part of the steering wheel. All Audi will need to do is reset it on the diag, which Ive had done on a customers car before and cost nowt!
