Mk6 Escort Si 1800 (the "new" shape) or Mondeo (preferably saloon) 2.0?

Anybody know the power figures, what they drive like, tuneability etc? And when did Zetec engines go int he Mondies?

I would have the escort myself in 3door. You can put 2litre cams, throttle body and RS1800 ecu in it and hey presto 130bhp.
That said, i've only driven the 1.6 5door mk6 escort and it wasnt great, very escorty, just average.

i got a escort gti which is just the same engine as the 1.8 si. its ok i suspose. Nice to drive,engine is smooth etc.Think its 9.2 to 60 and its got 115bhp. You can do a few things to tune the 1.8 engine. same with the 2litre really.check out http://www.rs20004x4.com/test have a look around the forum as a few people have done some tuning with 1.8 zetec,also some with 2.0 mondeo engines in the escort so tuned that up a bit so you can get an idea on the 2.0 tuning

The wife ad a Xr3i 16v (i know its a mk5!!!!) which had the 1.8 zetec in. Think it was about 105bhp. it was great, she loved it.
We have got a kid on the way so the 3i went and we just brought a 2.0 mondy, think thats about 130bhp. But its a big car and feels quite boaty towards the 3i. accelerates well though driven right
