Default Are spec R breathers

Really that bad? reason i ask mines always getting blocked and even once i have cleaned it, the car still produces more crap out the back on boost and a lot less with the main block breather pipe disconected from it
The car has done big miles but i'm putting most of it done to not breathing enough

Ideas and suggestions please people

Paul

If the car's done big miles then i'd bet on the fact that the car does actually breathe heavy and has plenty of crankcase pressure.....only so much a breather can do to mask/help the effects!

had mine custom built by bailey for my zetec turbo and when i cleaned mine it had hardy any oil in it and only ever dropped a few spots of oil when on full chatter out of the drain at the bottom of the tank , the spec-r ones always look far to small to me as they look like standard fiesta turbo ones in size , mines about twice the size , cant be that good on a 500+bhp engine surely

well if its on a 500+ engine..why wouldnt you get the tuner who built in to get the tank made? My spec-R one never got a single drop of oil running stage 3 (350bhp) Im yet to test it on my 450 engine

totally agree with you on that score , why do so many people buy engine/parts from one tuner then go and use someone else to do other work . the best way mate get your engine builder to spec everything then youve only got one phone call to make if anything goes wrong!

i dont know fuck all about how the cossie engine breathes to be honest so if you say its fine then the spec-r must be a good bit of kit , just looks small thats all in my opinion
cheers paul

Just spoken to Pete @ Spec-R and this is what he had to say on the subject (he cant get to a PC at the moment)

the early seperators were 2 1/4". With the advent of bigger BHP engines and different oils these were quickly superceded by a 3" seperator approx 3-4 years ago.

Pete had said that he has had never had any bad feedback in regards to either the 2 1/4" or the 3" seperators and both these sizes have been used on big BHP Cossies.

If you are using one of Petes universal seperators this will definately be a 3".

This would suggest to me that the problem is definately not with the breather but Pete has said you are more than welcome to give him a call where he can take you through some of the possible causes.

I personally have a Spec-R oil breather system on my 3 door and have never had a problem with it.

I'd say you'd benefit more from a engine freshen up to be honest mate.
