what colour is easiest to spray?
im going to re-spray the xr3i that i re-shelled my turbo into,
I am going to paint it myself, i will obviously practice etc on some old panels before i go near the car,
I want the car to be a solid colour,
i am thinking white.
What colour would be the best to spray it for a begginer? ie, what colour may hide any imperfections etc.
i did a 106 in black for a mate last year and it came out really well,

If you can get solid colour most are more forgiving than base and lacquer and if theres enough on there you can flat some bits out easily enough.
The lighter colours like white etc tend not to show up as much, the darker stuff like black tend to show up alot more problems.
If you can find somewhere that does solid 2k colours will make life easier but if not will be a base and lacquer jobby.
Main things you will need if doing a whole car is a good spray gun, and a big arse compressor mate as if its too small it'll run out of puff and its a bitch having to stop/start all the time plus having the pressure fluctuate is a nitemare

white hides alot of sins. avoid dark colours. im in the process of painting my cossy. its the second car ive painted & its not goint too bad so far. use 2k paint & 2k primer. 2k primer is so much nicer than celly & really smooths out the pannels. heres my resto to give you an idear

Also will buy a good gun.
so if i do it in solid white for example, i wont need to lacquer it after?

no mate, if its 2k solid colour theres no need for lacquer as its esentially coloured lacquer, if that makes sense!! I know some ppl do like to lacquer over the top aswell to add a bit more protection from the elements but you dont have too!!
Gun wise i've always used devlibiss and they come up pretty cheap on ebay althou i know alot of people use sata too but they tend to cost alot more!

i used hammerite to spray my bike
(the important bit now)
but the big ass compressor helped alot as you can just keep going
no faffing about waiting for pressure to balance out or increase

2k black is easiest to spray as you can easily see where you have been and any areas you may have missed. 2k white will hide more imperfections although harder to spray as its difficult to see where you have been after the first coat and you could end up with plenty of runs. make sure you have good extraction.
