Looks way different to the old Pace Intercooler for a series 2. Much smaller than the S2 version.
I think you gotta fairly good price though , new from Pace the S1 coolers are about £230 .

Thanks for the comments guys, I have just had a look on the Pace website and i think they are about £270.00 inc VAT.
So on the cost basis i guess it was a bargain but I am more interested to see what improvements it will give me on performance............ if any????

£230 inc vat for the series one 'outright' or it looks like they will do an 'exchange' one for £175... using your old end caps by the look of it!

Mark3d - you got a series 1 right?
What engine mods you got? What kinda boost you running?
Its not a very big i/cooler TBH but I'm sure it's better than standard one.
You should get one of those Air Charge Temp guages, then you could see improvements before and after fitting.

Cabrio: The website says prices stated do not include VAT?
SteveT: Yes I have an S1 its been stage one "chipped" -31 actuator, i dont really know how to answer what boost its running as i dont really know what tht means
Although i do know that apparently it is running approx 170-190 BHP?

The ACT gauge is just a useful tool to let you know how hot the air is which is entering your engine. It is just a small temperature probe which is usually fitted inside the cross-over pipe between intercooler and inlet manifold. Temperature of the air is then displayed in-car on an LCD panel.
Would be useful in your case as it would show if your new intercooler does make an improvement at cooling over the old one. Hot air is less dense than cold air, and denser air is better - more molecules per set volume - more power. Also, really high intake air temperatures will increase chance of damage to your engine.
Now you'd think I sold these things wouldn't you - well I don't. LOL!

Mark - the heavy oil usage may be related to the fact that the car boosts off the gauge! LOL! Does it smoke? what does ya boost gauge read to anyway? I'd say 15 psi / 1 bar is the max boost you'd wana be running and probably less.
How long you had this car anyway? Had it setup by a pro before? Lets see some pics, I love S1's!
