Like i say i'm not 100% sure but i saw the van from really far away and i slowed down but i think due to where it was situated they could catch me at that range. Guess time will tell!

Doh!!!! Yeah they're usually pretty quick off the mark at sending out the letters from what I hear.
Paul, basically the same speed and scenario as you, not condoning it but they're sneaky bastards, sunny day, NO cars, I came round this curve and they were sitting about 3/4 mile up the road in a layby, absolutely no way you could've seen the van before it was too late, i braked but i don't think i'll get away with it, reckon i was sitting around 85-90mph.

They have to issue the letter to the Registered Keeper within 14 days but if it's a company car it can take much longer to reach you becasue each step in the chain can take the whole 14 days to respond, and there is no time-limit for the feds to send the subsequent letter. e.g They write to leasing company (registered Keeper). They take 14 days to say car is leased to XXXX Ltd. Feds take 10 days to write to the company, who then take 14 days to respond giving your details. Feds then write to you 16 days later. That's 68 days.

Mine took 3 months to work it's way through, causing much distress about how I couldn't remember where I was. Then I realised it was the day I swapped company cars and it was actually the delivery driver taking the old one south who got busted.

As for range, in my photos from October 2006 on the M876, you can barely tell what model of car it is in the first snap.

Cheers for the replies, it was my own car unfortunately (mazda) so i'll defo get something through, as far as the signs go, it was on the main Aberdeen/Dundee road, there's sign up for all the fixed cameras, so i take it they don't have to put up more if they use a mobile one as there weren't any extra signs up.

From the front mate, yeah i did think it was a bit unfair as there was a bike hiking on behind me and he was defo going faster than me, not much i can do now i guess.

must say Rog, unless it was the first time you've driven that road, you should know better.
My bro used to be up and down that road like a terrier on heat, and always knew the camera locations and mobile 'hot spots'.

In slight defense tho, you may have been far enough away at 3/4 a mile.
If they still do you, then hold your hands up and take the punishment.

Soz mate.

I'm pretty sure that if you can see them it's already too late.

As said, in my pics the model of car is pretty much impossible to make out, never mind the driver or number plate.
