I'm gradually feeling a bit better now.
At least you guys are making me laugh.
I'm going to leave the guy positive feedback, but he'd better do the same for me!
Thanks for all the responses.

people do take the piss with postage cost soemtimes but its a way of getting more money, i have sold loads on ebay b4, all my postage is insured regardless, sometime i make a bit, sometime i lose abit, shit happens.
yeah he was taking the piss charging £2.50 and sending it with 28p stamp on, but, the item was as expected, in good condition etc etc, you could email him and ask about it but i wouldn't bother wasteing ya time, leave positive feedback if you happy with item and service, and put something like, item as described, very happy with it, postage cost abit high tho.
gets the message across in a nice way without slagging anyone off, this was you should still get positve feedback too.
its when you see a set of rear clusters with £10 P+P and £2 extra for insurance, thats ripping you off, i just sent a carb and inlet manifold, 2-3 day, insurced for £50, guy offered £10 P+P, it cost me £8.96 just to post, box came from shop, bubble wrap was from when i got sent a bumper and i live 4 min walk from postoffice, oh and tape i borrowed (
) from work, parcled it up and sent it for £1.04, sound ok to me.

I do tend to check postage costs carefully on E-bay and £295 is steep but if its on the auction page you got to wear it
maybe we have a whip round for you

i do the same feedback posting system as gurnE
feedback left ASAP if im buyer
I wait for buyer to f back before i do if im the seller.
also the guy who posted about the computer people they CAN BE off the mark on the postage.
but computer bits are a bit delicate (anti static bags ect)
also seen items like IPODS go for £5 and postage being £200 or sumthing like that

Maybe in the future there will be no more postage costs.
As that would stop people making money on the postage.
If you win the auction the item is posted free of charge within this country. The seller would just have to incorperate any postage costs into a reserve or starting price. Would prevent any confusion or postage rip offs!

Another point is I haven't got time to go down the post office and weigh every parcel before I list it so I estimate the postage.
Sometimes I make a little, sometimes I lose a little.
Averages it's self out in the end I reckon.
I've only once paid postage that I didn't feel was fair but it was stated on the auction, I wanted the item so was prepared to pay it even tho it was a bit steep and left the guy positive feedback once the item had been received.
I've also got 100% +ve feedback so I must be doing something right?

I'm in agreement with a few comments above - it is the buyers duty to leave feedback as soon as he receives the item. This is because if you leave the buyer feedback as soon as he has paid for the item:
a) The payment could go wrong (PayPal)
b) He may have a moan about a small scratch on a used item (everybody has a different idea on what is good condition etc.)
c) It is the only fair way to do it!
As for postage, it is clearly stated and I know first hand how much of a hastle it is posting things (ok, a stamped envelope is different but a parcel is a pain in the arse for someone working full time. When I broke my Cossie working out in the sticks i'd have to take rougly 1-2 hours off work to go into MK and post anything. Mission.

28 pence does not cover the envelope or packaging (tape labels etc) nor the walk to the post box etc (your own time) and also remember if you had no scales a walk to the post office to find postage too

really doesnt matter does it...
you agreed beforehand thats the deal.
signed for costs another 70ishp so it woulda been circa 90p postage that make you feel so much better??
if you thought postage cost would be too high for what you were buying (i.e. you must figured it was only letter size??) then you had the option to query it before bidding etc
you do not actually need to leave feedback... leave it till he prompts you if it pains you so much.
or a simple.... item received as expected
or if you wanna be a total fooker.... email him asking where it is?!! lol shoulda sent it recorded then!!

First thing tomorrow I'm off down to tesco to complain about the part of the price of my groceries that is down to getting them from the depot to the store - the lorry was going anyway, so why should I pay for that?
Sorry bloke, but the postage was there and, like someone else has said, if the thing is worth a tenner to you, you bid the difference.
