Default Burton power have had us over

The new pinto high pressure pump from burtons cant be used in a cossie lump now just by using the cossie top plate and pick up, the casting on the case has been changed so 2 of the holes dont line up at all and no room for machining the top plate holes to fit they've done a proper job, also you cant get away with cleaning your exhisting case up and use the internals from the new pump as the main impella with shaft has been tapered so it wont go in the old casing, just thought i'd let you guys know i think its a twattish thing to do coming from a ford performace so called specialist, i shant use them again for anything now as its been done on purpose to make people spend the money on yb pumps.

Bought loads of stuff from them, always turns up promptly.....what's wrong with having to buy an oil pump designed for your car anyway?

cosworth YB is a development on from the pinto engine with an added alloy 16v head as well as other mods.

ie your pretty much just paying a "cosworth" premium on the pumps when the pinto pumps seem to work ok from what coswurv is saying. And obviously burton have cottoned onto this changing pump design so it cant be modified to fit cosworths, ie to make more profit.

I realise the yb was a development of the pinto ....obviously it's a shitter that you can't use a pinto pump from burton now but burton being a business i'm surprised they didn't cotton on to this years ago when so many pinto pumps were being sold for less money obviously being used for cossies lol! Hardly a reason to slate them though really, the pump they sell for a pinto works on one does it not?....can a pinto oil pump not been modified like burtons not be purchased anywhere else?

Yeah but you cant fit your top plate to use the spray bar ian this is the problem, maybe a pinto pump from elsewhere may still fit so if thats what you mean then yeah it should work, just not from burtons.

pinto h/p £39

2wd h/p £169.95

so a massive difference beings the internals are identical, its a shame is all im saying, instead of doing this why dont they just continue to label the pinto pump up as 2wd cossie and price it at say £75 that way they will shift loads and not have to buy the yb pump in which must cost alot more, as they have the pinto pump cast themselves so ive been informed.

cant the tampering done to the internals of the pinto pump be undone to allow the fitting of the internals to your old casing?
or buy from somewhere lese that doesnt do this?

Strange answer, but burton will shoot themselves in the foot as people will just buy from elsewhere as theirs plenty of suppliers of old skool stuff

Theres been a difference between there pumps for years,

i have a new H/p 2wd and pinto pump from burtons. and they are different, the cosworth one is alot better made. but not the 100+ quid better tho.

I used to use Burtons all the time, everytime, but the prices crep'd up,the discount i was getting was getting less, so i havent used them for years now.

Never had a issue with there customer services tho. Even tho their advice could be wrong, but no different to other places.

stupid in what way sounds like burtons have been having their selfs over losing money, yes it is a dear pump but it's got cosworth on the box, your paying for the name not the product

But to be fair Burtons is the only place who now produces parts that are no longer available ie the twin cam stuff and pulleys

At the end of the day as the cars get older prices will go up,for example i'm after some cortina mk 3 wings but at £300 each form certain places and pattern part fetching silly money on ebay it will have to wait

You could always fit zetec spray jets and use a std pinto pump as the small turbo yb

i had a problem like this i was build an aspirated cosworth and i asked for an oil pump and they told me £186ish so i phoned steve at vulcan who done the engine work told me ask for a escort cosworth t25/pinto oil pump as they do the same job and fit better and it was less than £70 so they must know this
