If you can afford it, stretch to a new model ( 2001+ STI )

The regular cars are no comparison. The STI has better brakes, beter suspension, a far superior gearbox, better engine. Everything is worth the extra.

The base models cars brakes are barely adequate, gearbox isnt very strong, and generally a much cheaper car.

If tis just a daily commute, they are fine. But if you want something to drive and enjoy, the STI is far superior, and will take a lot more abuse and tuning.

some pretty helpfull info on there.
am in the same boat as you mate i keep thinking of getting a bugeye scoobie as they as cheap as some saphs now and are probs a better car to use everyday.

ive got a prodrive sti 300bhp aint slow 0-60 in under 5 secs and handle better than any saff without mega bucks spent on it for handling and you can get the arse out mid corner if you lift off so can have fun too

its mid range were the cossie's seem so much stronger

so easy to live with evryday just its not a ford thats why it went up for sale

cossies are in the blood
