I have been round the 'Ring with Si in his Cossie and his old Evo and it was properly good! He can proper pedal and the fact he isn't scared makes it better! Must have bollocks the size of footballs!

Have been to the Ring and havent seen a lot of cossies though, only 2..
One from the UK:
Watch the orange S1 in the background:
And a very nice one from Holland:
Then saw this beast:
What a car!! Was standing next to an EVO VIII but this new Focus RS really stands out from the croud!
Not captured solo on camera, but I also saw 2 RS turbo's from the UK. One orange S1 'B18 PWR' and a grey one with decals from NMS. Saw the last one going on the Ring.
Also saw the Reyland Focus doing a trip at it, very nice to see it in real life.
Finally saw this car when I was waiting in the traffic, think someone from here??

Nigel is a very good driver IMO, he was certainly on it the lap I was out with him.
Si scared the crap out of me Tho I also like Si's driving style
I always enjoy being a passenger with both of them on track

I managed to get a couple of passenger laps in with both Si and Nige, both of them were super committed
Quickest lap that I timed was Si who did a 8:14, but that was on the last day and there was a contraflow in place on the first big right hander, and it lost him best part of 10 seconds going through there I should think as it was single file and about 40mph all the way from the first right hander to the left hander that drops down the hill.
I was very impressed, Ive always considered Nigel to be the better drive of the two TBH but Si was absolutely spot on that lap and I really am not so sure there is anything between them anymore, as mentioned above, I am positive they must both take a brave pill before they go out these days!

Think we might try and turn the boost on the focus down a little tomorrow so Ian can have another crack at it, its SO aggressive as it comes in at the moment that its not really ideal for him to going back out in to build his confidence back up.
He'll decide tomorrow if he feels like it or whether to just call it a day for this trip now, he still says he's had a great time overall though and is still glad he came.

Top lad for not letting the ring beat him IMHO

Well, the boost wasnt turned down, but Ian did go back out he was clearly not interested in buying anymore armco though so wasnt trying quite as hard as before but certainly knows where he is going at the ring now and going round in the mid to high 9 minutes quite happily to get some more experience of it.

Just thought I would put up a quick note to say thanks to my own personal "man of the match" on the ring trip, which was Dave, he was obviously gutted after the problems with his car, but managed to keep his spirits up and was still fantastic company for everyone despite being stuck with a 1400cc hire car instead of his 700bhp escort cosworth.
It would have been SO easy for him to just have been in a shit mood and ruined it for everyone, or to have just fucked the trip off and gone home, but instead he was great company and acted as a free taxi service in his hire car to get people about on loads of occasions.

Took Ian a while to realise why I had quickly evacuated to the back of the jeep on hire ground, but once the mud got higher than the pedals he worked it out
I think Helen got some pics of me trying to find the towing eye on the back, with my arm buried up to my elbow in the mud, so Im sure she will post those later

Kelv did a 8:55 in a lightly modded RS Focus on his first ever trip driving at the ring, I think that the stopwatch is giving him more praise than any person ever could, thats an awesome achievement IMHO
Gutted I didnt get to go out with him and sample it for myself, I will make sure he doesnt get off so lightly next time

Ditto with your opinion there Helen, can't fault the chap atall and came accross as a very genuine and friendly guy.
Dave, that's quick and handy
Cheers chip, I think I got quicker and smoother as I progressed after that timed lap, learning more as we went, just never timed anymore.
And that timed lap was just more out of curiousity rather than trying to beat anyone or anything

sure its public toll road, but UK insurance companies are getting wise and are now not paying out for accidents that happen on the nurburgring. Cases have even ended up going to court where the insurance company have even used Top Gear footage to prove their cases and won apparently
Moris for one does do insurance for there. I guess most just go over on UK insurance and i guess thats what i will do this year as Moris systems are being upgraded and they are unable to offer track insurance for a few weeks (i go next week)
