Default Crunching and grinding Knee...

Hello - past few months I've been having a bit of pain in my right knee.

Usually when I straighten my knee getting up, can be worse in the mornings.

Anyway - felt my knee earlier when I bend it and it's sort of crunching and grinding as I do it, with the odd crack.

Anyone know if this is normal growing stuff? I imagine at 21 I've probably stopped growing now, and who's best to see about this? (as silly as it sounds, not been docs for years and years) The doctors?

Cheers, hope it's not sign of dodgy knees when I'm older.

It is wear in the cartilidge within the knee joint. I had this for quite a few years and was on painkillers in the end. Had an operation on my knee and has been fine ever since.

Your Doctor will refer you to a specialist who will then assess them damages, if there are any. There could be so many different things going on, it's not worth anyone trying to work it out. Remember, it could even be your hip.

All the best - Benni.

Mine were doing something similar last year, took glucosamine sulphate (sp.) tabs for about a month and they've been ok ever since!

Jesus is that all?

I played Volleyball from the age of 12(amongst others like football etc) and I am now 29, stopped playing at age of about 26. Jumping up and down for most of my years and diving about on floors has not left my body in good shape.

Both my knees, both my hips, both my shoulders, both my wrists and both my ankles grind and crunch when I circulate them. I have back pain that comes and goes and after having X-Rays it seems a couple of my upper spinal discs have some crumbling which causes nerve pinching, but I have a feeling that happened when I crashed my R1 haha.

I still ride my quad/supermoto, train in gym and work as a mechanic. Toughen up lad!! hahaha

In a more serious note, take glucosamine and/or cod liver oil and see your Doc in case it is something serious.

Ignore the home diagnostics Dan...it could be anything causing it...it is likely to be cartelidge ( sp? ) trouble but it may be something as silly as the shoes you wear.....go see the doctor and they will refer you to who ever is most applicable. Make sure they dont fob you off with some iboprufen or some bollocks tho, make it clear you want an answer and a solution.

Go and see a specialist mate, theres obviously something not quite right there.

If the doc says there is nothing wrong demand to be referred to a specialist.

I had a motorbike accident a few years ago and completely fucked my left knee up. I was told it was a bad sprain. 6 months later I was ordered to go and get it seen to again by my manager as I still couldnt walk properly and I was having problems with it collapsing and me falling over, not good when I'm lifting a gearbox out! Lol!

Anyway to cut a long story short, had an operation to see what was wrong and they found that my knee was completely buggered and needs to be reconstructed.

Moral of the story? Talk to someone who knows about knees!

Cheers Benni!

I've just got back, aside from the usual lose weight stuff I need an xray on it - and excercise it everyday.

Something isn't right anyway!

As above. Also the blood flow around your knee is very slow so Can take several months to heal propper.

I had this when I was running. I was doing between 35-40 miles and my knees just could'nt hack it.

I was out for 9 months and slowly started running again but after a few weeks it was coming back.

I think my running days are over

It was a walk in centre for Xrays! Crazy!

Either way, the bird at reception was a right cutie.

i've had lots of problems with my knees, and keyhole surgery isn't the be all and end all of it

keyholed twice on my left knee and it's still fucked so rather than take more time off, i just keep it non stressed as possible and it doens't give me any gyp

it could be the cartilige wearing out, or the ligaments not being tight enough, or the joint getting athritic, or you being to heavy, or your walking gait, or your natural posture or anything, mine gets really bad pushing a shopping trolley about as i can't exert force in a different direction other than straight ahead, so it cuold be as imple as that

get it checked out is the right thing to do, but getting it looked at by someone who's about to chop your leg off might be a step to think about for a while before proceding with it
