Default Ohhh this winds me up...

watching the news, more people die from this superbug MRSA (or summink) every year than road accidents.

So why not fine nurses and doctors for not washing properly.

How about not cleaning cameras for cleaners that give them £60 and three point and after four offences can't clean at all anymore.

and Why are people waffling on so much about how dangerous cars are if our hospitals kill more people a year

Well said that man!
You see they 'simply don't have the time' you see
Peoples mentality comes into it too

People would be out of a job if nobody got ill (this is not meant to offend) just what you feel like saying sometimes

I work in a Supermarket and when using the convienences myself, see alot of this happening (people then go off to eat thier meal that they've just purchased in the cafe!!)

Even staff don't wash thier hands (I'm Health and Safety Rep) so they don't get away with it lightly

Don't be a knob!!

My girlfriend and as such many of my friends are nurses and most of them do their job to the highly professional standard they are trained to - I.e. degree level.

MRSA is mainly spred around and brought into hospitals by visiting relatives who don't wash their hands and treat the hospital as if was a hotel.

There is no excuse for MRSA.

I run 7 departments in a hospital (private), one of my departments is Housekeeping.
With good education of doctors, nurses and all other staff that work in the hospital we have only had one hospital aquired infection in 6 years.

We get patients from other hospitals that have to be isolated because they come in with it. When a patient is admitted swabs are taken from there nose and groin to see if they have any infection.

If they come back clear the isolation is removed if they have the infection then a treatment starts on treating it.

(if you need info on that you will have to ask my misses, shes a sister.)

A lot of hospitals have started putting alcohol gels on the entrance to reduce people brining it in from outside.

MRSA is not nice due to its resistance of Penacilin.

If anyone wants info let me know between me and the misses we know quite a bit as we deal with it everyday.

Biggest cause of MRSA in other hospitals is handwashing (lack of it and technique).

top quote , think also most germs are spread cause nurses are so over worked cause nobody wants to do the job, well especially for the shite money they pay them, under 10k a year training.

Don't disagree with you there - just that people get the impression that its the fault of the nurses (and people at the coal-face so to speak) when they are doing their best with the time and facilities they have - particularly in a very busy underfunded NHS ward.

I wouldn't do their job for any amount of money.

Was not being funny, all nurses e.t.c do an outstanding job and i would never ever knock them for that.

as you are aware cleanliness in hospital is a major issue, especially with contract cleaners who dont give a dam.

I never put down any healthcare professional however sometimes i feel consultants need education

go private then mate
I think a lot of people would go private if you could opt out of paying the national insurance. I know I would

Everone is forced to contribute to an out dated hospital system in this country whether thay want to use it or not

that is not the fault of the hospital staff though, i must admit ive been in hospital a few times for very very stupid things ( i dont mean waste there time with a cold ect as the doctors is closed), inthink we have the best people doing the jobs innthe world, now i wont say the same for trainee dentist's though ( i will never forget that as long as i live )

UCH hospital is the best hospital i have ever been to, when i tore a ligament in my leg, i was taking to whittingtion hospital ( 8 hour waiting times ) left there adn got a buss to UCH, yes its that good

also faked our address to allow us to have our baby at UCH, i really think they are the tits

as for the others in charge ya dont see or the one who count the beans ect, aint got a clue about them but the doctors and nurses put some fooking hours in

i respect em alot more than moaning about em

mind i do have a scar on my hand where skin is folded whe i was stiched and the skin over lapped and now its freeking, but at the time the was stitching a vein together , i understand then might have been in a hurry

My wife is on the infection control team at the local private hospital and they've only ever had one recorded case of MRSA which they are almost 100% certain was brought in by the patient from the outside. (residential home)
I don't disagree that most cases are brought in from the outside by visitors, but only 1 case in something like 50years..go figure
Maybe it helps that in last years infection control audit, she got the hospital 100%, this year only 90something% but they were well down on staff in housekeeping/support services.

No offence intended there mate, was a kind off of the cuff comment people say when they are wound up about something.

And to be fair, yes medical staff try very hard, and fair play to them.

Wish I could go private, but when £100 of my money is being used for Tax on the NHS, I can't afford to take out a private helth insurance policy to pay for these things.

If everyone went private, our Health service would end up like America's, whereas if u get shot in the street the first thing the check before your pulse is if you have proper health cover
Before anyone goes mouthing of how bad our system is, go to other countrys and see , eg Australia, America see how u like waiting lists there

Fair play chap - my bad ; just wound me up also - as she (my missus) is now working her ass off on nights - and is working nights over christmas and I know how hard her and her friends work with what they have - and how little she will bring home for it!
