Well becuase of the design of the T4, he would / should have realised that more boost would give considerably higher ACTs and may have in fact reduced the amount of air flow .

......in fact, didn't MADRod used to run a 42psi peak in his old 500 engine? And that was pretty rapid eh Mike

Is Nutter running a long stud block or is this the famous NMS "only use std head bolts"

Phil,

It uses the traditional 6 long studs.

The headgasket has blown out at the front of cylinder number 1 (i.e. above the water pump) and is a failure that is associated with any dis-similar studded block. (I.e. failure caused by difference in clamping force between different methods of clamping)

Cylinder head clamping must be uniform and is why I never have recommended 6 long studding. Nutter's engine sadly adds to the ever growing list of failures I've seen on this type of head clamping.

I'm disapointed for nutter as he really wanted to crack 185mph today but only just made it into 5th gear when disaster struck.

Mike,

It certinaly doesnt hold 38psi to the limiter, is simply uses that for a midrange shove!

On position 12 for today I had mapped it at 40psi peak, 34psi held.

When the HG failed, I'd guess at position 7 it was running around 30 psi held.

Karl like the Cometic head gasket requires very careful installation to avoid blows, the long studs and outer 4 stretch bolts need special tensions!.....IMO of course......YB's are fooking wanky when tuned anyway

Ian,
You go outside the compressor map's efficiencies and you WILL lose power, irrespective of what you want to think. There is a lot more to it than just ACTs. I think I can feel a post brewing from Stu to explain this in depth .

LOL @ Mike,

Thanks for clearing that up Mike, I shall explain to Nutter that from now on we must consult with your good self on allowed boost levels.

Karl,
You can run as much boost as you like, but you know as well as I do, that once you push a turbo too hard you get deminishing returns, to the point that you would probably get the same or even more power at a lower pressure .

Unfortunately the only casual thing Mike does is Gay sex

Mike for the brief spike of say 40psi in the mid range ACT's are not a factor!!!!Didnt you once say to me that YOUR saff ran 2.5 bar in 3rd

I believe it was by invitation only, and many of the well known cars were'nt on the list. I'm not sure what the selection criteria was either.

Phil, your memory is like your comunication skills - shit .

2.5 bar was in 1st gear only (although I could set any boost level in any gear).
