Default KA sport or 206 Gti 180

after being unable to find a good KA sport without paying a daft price I think a 206 gti 180 might be a good option for now.

some very nice 2004 models for £4-£4.5k

anyone opinions of either - only for a bit of summer fun

The SportKa is only 94bhp / 99 lb ft (0-62mph: 9.7sec / 108mph) where the Pug 206 is 180bhp. Cant comair the two realy.

them pugs any good though, seem to be riddled with electrical issues from experience, admittedly not the gti, but more boggo models.

I worked for Peugeot for a year n a half. Lots of electrical problems with 206's but strangely enough, not really with GTI's. Weird.

They do suffer from the comms unit packing in. Really all it does is when you indicate then turn into a corner it doesnt cancel, instead it cancels then indicates in the opposite direction. Im sure you would get used to cancelling it manually after a while. Replacement units are about £230 fitted IIRC.

I had a girl in once who went from a 206 GTi to a 206 GTi 180. her complaint was that her GTi did 132mph but her GTi 180 only did 122
Imagine actually complaining about that. Eh wait till i phone the police love so you can tell him

Ive noticed this Pattern with Peugeot the buggo models seem to fall apart.
The Gti's seem to last.

The shape of the 206 in general still looks modern, even though its 11 years old now!! I still remember the advert with Lenny Kravitz singing

Yeah I know. The Ka needs to be about 115bhp minimum. Till I saw the spec of them, I thought that they would have been more than 94bhp and better than a 8v. Even the hot Fiat Panda has 100bhp.

they were well overpriced as new too - full spec and £12k - all reports always said - good car, could do with a bit more power for the excellent chassis - but too expensive when compared to the standard KA and other equivalent vehicles.
hence 2nd hand prices are now too high.

its a shame as I always wanted one to put away and bring out from time to time, as I think the KA was a revolution in small car shape when it came out, much as when the Sierra came out being th first rounder car as opposed to square & angular.

but as everybody else I value for money too.

thanks for the replies

Them 180's need a remap to get the best out of them. I think they look awful personally, the standard GTi has aged better. I could think of a lot of better cars to buy with that money!

Good fun car but not that quick. To be honest if it was money i would lok at the Clio 172Cup or even 182's. Mate got one for his wife new years back and he rated it as far more fun than his Scooby of the time

I would go for a 306 Gti6/rallye, half the price of a 172/182 and will out perform them in every way, straight line, twisties, and will out perform a 206 gti 180 by miles, they are shocking if you try and go round a corner in one!

That is one thing with the 180, the seats are awsome, but you could always find some and put them on different runners!
