Question had an operation, and my cut is still very hard!

17 days ago guys i had a minor operation with a lot of dissolveable stitches, now where i have been cut open its rock hard skin, will this soften out do you know? just wondering as its not confortable being hard, any creams around to soften the scar tissue or is it too early to call?

Honey go and get some bio-oil. That will help soften it and reduce the scarring too!

But as a rule, it will soften up by itself, but the oil will help!

Beccy had a very small cyst removed from her back at the beginning of March, you should see the scar. Looks like she had it done last week and what a fucking mess they made of it too, as though Edward Scissorhands was the surgeon.

Lovely considering we get married in 4 months and it's where her shoulder blade is.

Moral is, don't panic, it could be worse!!

A GB Sticker should do it! I have a scar all from my hip to my knee. I'll try some Bio-oil myself.

Bio-Oil works best when it is used from when the scar is reasonably fresh Benni, so you may not get fantastic results! BUT i have also used it on older scars, and they have dramatically smoothed out!

I'll give it a try. It's like a big thick line of overskin.

Know that feeling, you should see the one on my back from having a mole removed last year!!! right in the middle of my back between my shoulder blades and its stretched to fuck now!! the gf said she can stick her hole thumb in it!! Will try get some pics if poss, as maria said it will soften up in time and bio oil does help but its not cheap!!!

Still got a scar across my throat from when i had my thyroid out, that stretched alot too!! unfortunatly unless its done somewhere with little movement/stretching they all seem to get stretched out

Bio oil is good, BUT cica care gel sheets are better in my opinion. They are available mainly by prescription and thats the cheapest way of buying them as each sheet costs about £38 so the prescription charge is cheapest way to get them!!

Ive used them for a long time for working on keloid scarring i had on arms and they are good for use on fresh scars and even old scars will flatten and not look so red and raw.

They arent the easiest things to use as you have to keep the sheet in place for hours and hours each day so sometimes you need a small tubigrip type bandage to keep it in place under clothing etc.

Its like a sticky jelly:

I had similar about 18 months ago, got told to massage it to break it down.

I just put finger and thumb either side and sort of rolled it between them

There was one bit where I had a drain in that stayed hard a while longer, but the whole length of the scar is fine now, barely visible

Try that if you don't want to lash out on the expensive stuff

It takes time mate ive got a 10" scar on my arm and it took months for it to feel anything like normal, bio oil is good just keep at it as its by no means a quick fix.

i was told to not use bio oil until my stitches had healed, massaging the stitched area helps break down any scar tissue build up too, which was something else i had to do after my breast reduction.

My consultant told me NOT to use any kind of scar treatment oil until the wound had completely sealed with new skin and any scabs etc had come off.

About 2 -3 weeks i did it for, ive got 1 hard lump still at the t junction but thats it, which isnt bad considering the amount of stitches i had.
