Default Zetec life expectancy?

whats the life expectancy on a 2.0 zetec silvertop mondeo engine? all the ones i seem to find are over 110000 miles! want one for my conversion, but struggling to find a low mileage one. are they still good over 100000 miles generally?

+1!

Depends on entirely on what sort of life its had. Has it been ragged constantly? Has it been serviced regularly? Has it been warmed up before driving aggressively? etc etc etc etc!

100k on a well looked after engine is a perfectly acceptable candidate for a conversion. My zetec engine is on 145k and runs as sweet as any car ive had.

i was just after a general guidline, from your experience, just wanting to know if they still go well up to a high mileage. i will try to source one from an automatic i think.

as people said theres too many factors,, has it run rich in its life? has it been serviced regulary,, etc etc..

But in general they go on to about 160k+ usually providing its been looked after.
The bores dont wear like a Pinto lol.

I sold a escort gti last year with 80k on the clock, and i spoke to the owner of the garage i sold it too recently, he told me two weeks after i sold it to him the head went
It was never thrashed when i owned it for 2 years and it was serviced on time.
One of those things i guess?

very rare if the engine blocks fail , and if your going for a turbo conversion then rebore the block to 2.1 litres and it will be like a new block , mainly its just the components that need replacing , mine is a second hand block with about 75,000 miles and that did some good bhp 522bhp @ 30 psi with no probs at all , only stopped because the 4 injectors ran out of duty cycle . but iam after 600+bhp so only time will tell if they can take 2.5 bar of boost or more

I took one apart on 140K to do the headgasket (caused by dodgy LPG conversion IMHO as was running leaner than a butchers dog) and the bores were MINT, I would have honestly thought it had only done 20K miles if that was a YB, there was utterly no lip at all, and the pistons werent loose at all.

They seem to age REALLY well

I wouldnt be put off by high mileage at all.
