is 10/60 oil alright to use in a stage 3 cossie? had been told to use 5/30 which one is best to use and shud you use semi or full synthetic oil?

Car has done 68,000 miles,ave just had it servied and its got 10/60 valvoline vr1 in. Got told off NMS to use 10/60 oil but have been told off someone else to use 5/30, Does it matter if its fully or semi synthetic?

i would only use full synthetic personally; do a search on here for threads by oilman if you really want to know the facts about both oils

i would go for silkolene pro s 10/50 in mine - but oil is a subjective matter, so its personal choice, in everyday motoring most people will never know if one brand is better than the other

i went with pro s as oilman recommended it to me and it seemed to quieten down the tappets

You can get castrol rs which is 10/60 but the silkoline is 10/50.

I doubt you'd be able to find any 10w60 thats not a fully synthetic.
And who told you to use a 5w30 in the YB tractor engine?? You could drive a bus through a YB's tolerences.....what do you think 5w30 gnats piss is gonna do in that free space

The oil thats in it now valvoline VR1 10/60 and its semi synthetic, Been told off nms this is all they use but their's is millers

Seems odd why some one would produce a oil weight that's aimed at the performance market but not make it a fully synthetic.

Ive been using Millers 10w60 for years with no probs.
