I understand many people wont be interested in this "giving away money to the unlucky" concept, but thats fine, we all respect your decision and your views will be noted by your lack of reply.
In other words, any negative bollox on this post will simply be deleted from now onwards. So expect it and dont complain.

gutted for you tony. I know how it feels. God knows how much I've poured in over the years. Count me in for £20.
However I wouldn't blame you if you did brake it. It's a lovely car and would be a real shame but I almost wish I had done on mine so long ago. I certainly would have been a LOT better off financially. Sometimes it is just better to cut your losses but then thats thinking with your head rather than your heart, which I certainly didn't do!

Absolutely gutted for you Tony - you know how I think you have the best RS Turbo out there..........
I'm not going to go on about charity threads, as I think I made my feelings on the subject perfectly clear last time. Having watched the making of the Band Aid single last night, I know where my £20 would be going.................
However, best of luck in getting her sorted, and I hope you don't break it.....

OK guys. BIG BIG thanks to those that have said that they will donate.
I have an expensive car habit too, but that doesn't stop me feeling for Tony as I know exactly what this meant to him.
I totally understand those that don't want to and that have their own feelings.
I aren't just suggesting money, obviously we will probably be looking for a donor engine and one-or-two other bits, depending on what is found when it is stripped. Those findings will be discussed between me and Tony and left totally up to him as to what he discloses.
He is a VERY good friend and I just want to help ease the pain.
As for warranty, as it was suggested earlier, their is no warranty on an engine that runs 2 Bar of boost. Tony understood that.

Gutted for you Tony. Car looked so sweet at the Southern PF meet
Don't break her though. As disheartening as it is these things happen and are a risk that we all take whether going for it at a day like Brunters, a track day or just chasing down that jap crap.
I've been there myself when I holed a piston. I really thought the car was dead and she was a goner. I couldn't bring myself to part with something that I'd had for 8 years so I dug deep and bit the bullet and a new engine was built up.
I really really hope you get it sorted mate

Sorry to read about this tone,
I've just been through something similar, car off the road for 8 months sorting out heaps of stuff (including all the work to the new intercooler and bumper) and spent a good few grand on it only to blow up my 4000 mile old block on its first run proper run.
Hadnt spent quite the same as tony but I can imagine how he's feeling right now, Dig deeper or call it a day.

cant imagine how gutted he must be right now.
not sure of the full spec - only been keeping up to speed with the superb restoration of the shell etc
good luck with it tony, keep your heart in it! theres a good few months before the proper stuff starts next year!! plenty of time to spread the costs out before the season.
gotta say
for davescos as ive read before what you put about these type of threads!! although... i dunno why but i keep thinking errors account.. rogue trader...

Tone you know what everyou do its because you feel its the right thing to do and car is already something special and will be remembered for that alone whatever you decide to do.
I can see both sides of the coin, the arguement to break it and the arguement to keep it because you have come so far with the car.
What you got to think about is what would you do if you no longer had the car.
You know if you decide to keep it im only a phone call away if you need anything (travling to or from norfolk etc)

Well Gutted for Tony, But as said if its a new engine and a failuer due to something wrong with it then warrenty?
As for donating sorry but i think a lot of people being in this shoes and not a dig or anything but what makes Tony special? Imo it somthing he needs to sort out himself
Other than that everyone give him a hand but with funds concernd it has to rest with Tony.
Is was in same situation Skint and cossie motor went after spending Thousands on the car. But i had to make sacrafices and get it fixed. Though still trying to work out if that was a good things
Know whta Tony is thinking though Cut his losses as after all the times/effort its still not right or has he gone to deep.
If it was me personally knowing what i know now break it

why is the option break or replace?
few others have said about putting a less serious engine in?
what you looking at for an average replacement kinda engine?
most bits should be salvagable shouldnt they?
think it might of been rick that suggested potential things to replace - I woulda thought that reasonable...
because even if he breaks its - it wont be any sort of return against what he's paid for the car... he's built it. not bought it to break like most cars that get damaged have.
like andy says he'd have to think what else he is going to do if he does cut his losses.

i think tonys whole view was to have one of the quickest rst's proven
imo, no point rebuilding to a lower spec when the car is a;ready pretty much 100% full on top spec
hopefully its just a bottom end rebuild and no major damage, if so.. game on surley

Gutted for you Tony......
Very bad news about no warranty
Obviously though APT will rebuild and map FOC with you just paying for parts...thats the least considering its Christian doin the appeal
..Count me in for £20 in this particular case you deserve it mate.

Totally agree, although depends on what caused the failure completely.

Your right no warranty on race parts...although i thought SCS warrantied there 500bhp engines???
....but never the less most buliders/mappers would help out on an engine that blew with so little miles surely?...As i would say the tuner would have not mapped a car to run 2 bar boost if it could pop so soon surely?...But hey i guess i want too much out of life
..In no way do i blame APT as race cars are shite in reliability but i wouldbe surprised if a company wouldnt offer help especially as they are such good mates....so cancel this reply as its obvious they would.
