Default Buying a car on ebay... Comebacks?

i bought a car on ebay last week, called the woman up right after auction said i'd be up next day to collect. drove 160 miles to collect she handed me the keys & v5 and i handed over the money and drove on.

Couple of things weren't as described on the auction which pissed me off a little, the rusty wheel arches and sills for example. But it's only a £500 estate car which i needed desperately last week so drove home no probs. so far done 300 miles in this and the clutch went

now i know it's sold as seen on a auction site and i should have gone and looked at it the day before i bid but i didn't, i trusted her in good faith as i'm sure we all do when buying a car?

i'm tempted to email her and ask for a contribution atleast to the parts and i'll pay the labor or something, the worst she say is fuck off and i'll just leave bad feedback.

what would you advise?

when you say clutch went how did it go ?? was it slippin or crunching or difficult to get in ?? did you know the clutch was ropey but desperation for wheels meant you took a chance or did it go great until it packed up on you ??
if so the chances are the bird who sold you the car wouldn't have known about it.
are you sure its the clutch and not the cable or somthing daft ?

my mate sold a car to a geezer just recently with slight play in a engine mount that got quickly worse and he took it to a garage who diagnosed the fookin clutch and said it was dual mass which it fookin doesn't even have anyway.

they quoted 750 quid to fix a problem it didn't even have that would cost a fraction to sort out.

as said, it sounds like you didn't check the car out on collection, and have covered a decent amount of miles and now want to complain.

You bought a cheap car and something that can go at anytime has gone, just luck of the draw and think it is unfair to ask he for cash or neg feed back her.

yeah i know it's nothing expensive and i put a clutch in it this morning but it just bugs that it's fucked up 300 miles down the line!!

Ultimatly it's just one of those things, sold as seen £500 is nothing blah blah blah BUT i'm just a bit pissed off with the whole thing!

When winning a car on ebay do any of you then go and test drive it?

I think a car 1k or over you would go and look first but would think most people wouldnt bother at less than that price , Unless its only a few miles away then its worth looking first whatever the price

You are supposed to do that before you win the auction.

You won the auction, met the seller, gave the money (assuming by doing this you were happy to buy the car) you've done 300miles in it and the clutch goes - it's your problem now unfortunately.

Yeah .. Every car Ive bought off Ebay had a test drive and good look over before handing any cash over. (After Auction ended)

What if they bloke says it's mint, You get there .. Have a look and the whole floor is shot? Buy it anyway ... Fook that ...

as above, would maybe pay a small deposit by paypal, then go and view, if not as described then the deal is off.

Neg feedback would be dependent on the sellers attitude.

My sister bought a 2002 vw beetle a few years back, car was perfect, but the seller says "if you don't give me good feedback, I will neg feedback you"

Really odd thing to say I thought? car was fine, deal was fine, price was fine??
