Default Plumbing experts - Immersion heater

Right people, the immersion heater has packed up and I have the new one here ready to fit. Problem I have is the old one does not want to shift. Any hints or tips as it's doing my nut in having to shower at the inlaws

Bottom. I was told (not sure how right this is though) to initially crack it with the tank still full so it doesn't split the tank

Get some heat into mate, a plumbers blow torch or similar, and you should be able to shift with a bit of persuasion, they can be a right bastard though....go careful you don't crack the tank

i always hit the end of the spanner with a few sharp knocks using a hammer and seems to do the job all the time.

i suppose if you get it all drained down, getting a plumber out isnt going to cost the world though.
