anyone had a mk2 xr2 as a track car?
just noticed a few knocking about for sale at very reasonable money -ex challenge cars etc with decent suspension,cage etc.
just cant be arsed with the m3/engine at the mo so toying with buying an xr2 for a few track days.......

I had one back in 1999 /2000, just before trackdays started becoming popular, was a 1700cc (from memory) high compression CVH with worked head, twin 40 webbers, full janspeed etc etc etc.
Was good fun actually, brakes were always marginal because of the smallish disc size, and the LSD gearbox from a S2 was a worthwhile addition.
Never gonna be the fastest thing in the world, but with a Mondeo 2.0 zetec dropped in the bay, i would imagine much budget fun could be had.
Heres a couple of pics of mine at a very quiet rainy Donington.
