A mate of mine on here 'peevee' runs one in his 205..seems to do a job, he knows more about them than me though! The difference between the manual and electric ones is that the manual ones you have to open the pressure valve on the tank manually via a lever where as the electric ones open via a solenoid on the end of the tank. Depends how lazy you are lol.

I see - fitted an engine to a sylva yesterday and that ran one - said it's the best thing he's done as he was having oil problems on corners before....

Maybe a little over kill for a fiesta though?

The problem is, they take up space and the small 1 or 2 pint ones are really for bikes! So unless you get a big one they aren't actually going to do a lot - i had a long chat with Think Auto about one when i was re-speccing my oil system and the opinion was that they work well, but you need to find space for the largest possible one!

It's belt driven, if the belt snaps you're fucked!

well surely a simple shield solves that problem?? as long as its a high grade belt then surely its at no more risk of snapping than your average auxiallary belt/cambelt???

As the normal oil pump is driven off the distributor drive then you are also fucked if any belt snaps.

Edit - Point already raised

Zetec-SE is driven off the crank/cam belt

Also - dry sump belts I've seen tend to be small and thin! Although that's the not the discussion I'd go dry sump if I had the £1000 plus it needs to buy one .

There is nothing wrong with either, we run two N/A cossie's on dry sump and in 15 - 20 years of rallying i've never heard of or had a failure with a dry sump belt, one is a gravel car only the other does a mix of both....

Accusumps perform really well too and i've seen them on lots of competition cars....one in particular has a high powered vauxhall engine in, revs to 9 to 10K every time its out and has particular un forgiving driver behind the wheel....

If you can afford it, dry sump, if your budget wont stretch i'd definately have an accusump on one of my cars.....
