good article, but i'm disappointed that you don't explain how the spark can get blown out

The spark dosen't get blown out. The more boost (or higher compression) you run, the dense'r the mixture gets, and the resistance across the plug gap increase's to the point that there is not enough energy in the spark to jump across the gap. Decreasing the gap reduces the resistance.

very interesting Stu. Can you explain what the disadvantage of reducing the plug gap might be
