Default Rs turbo over heating help

We recently rebuilt my friends escort rs turbo s2 with re cored rad, new front mount pro alloy intercooler with the twin fans.

It was out for the first time yesterday and driving along with little boost its sending the temperature gauge into the red.

At the min it has a standard cam and standard pulley which will be changed to a piper one and vernier pulley when its run in.

Problem is why is the f**ker over heating, any idea's?

Drove it from workshop home tonight also on little boost which is at most 8 miles, went up a hill and got out ad the turbo was cherry red hot, which im sure it would normally ever get that hot when flat out for a good bit.

Could it be a timing problem? Someone else has set the timing at 12 degree's i think he said.

It has mot on thursday in rush hour traffic and im not sure if even sitting with the heaters on flat out it will stay cool enough

Sounds like a timing problem to me.If rad fans are running, and the rad is hot, that pretty much rules out the thermostat and the fan sensor switch.Have you opened the cap on the expansion tank to release any trapped air??Regards,Micky

Fan switch was new and worked until it melted the plug so now it doesnt work. It pressurised the header tank up and if opened the cap fully it would have poured the water out this time. This was the longest drive it has been on so far.

it wasnt putting pressure into the tank the day before on shorter journey just heating right up to the red
