Will this be okay? Have you used these before?
Haven't measured the ID of the couplings, will do as soon as possible.

Have bought a new 044, this filter, and a new fuel filter, new fuel lines etc.
Don't want a little thing like a to small ID of a coupling to fuc* up the entire setup.
Ive never seen the need for one mate,a nd nor did Ford, Or Cosworth. Thats not to say they are a bad thing, but i would need to know the flow capability before i risked a high power engine with one on it.

Okay, i see.
Had problems with fuelpumps earlier, 2 pumps that have died very early..
Not 044 pumps.
Don't wan't any more problems with the new engine (500+),
cleaned the tank inside aswell.

They say it will flow 300ltr/hr. But i don't know..

You wouldn't catch me ever fitting a pre filter to a car equipped with a GRAVITY fed pump. I can't see a filter helping gravity get fuel to the pump easily.

044s, standard pumps and all pumps of similar design to these Bosch pumps are gravity fed pumps and are not lift pumps. They cannot lift fuel from the tank themselves. I'm quite confident that they cannot suck fuel through a filter if they cannot lift fuel from a tank.

sytec alway recommend a pre pump filter !

and a few years ago, i managed to fuck up two brand new pumps at £200 each when my gravity pump sucked the foam out of my fuel tank and blocked both pumps individually !

I will never ever run an external pump or an internal without a filter ever again. and have been using pre-filters on my 044's for many years now on a gravity (from a swirl pot) system.

Is this on the inlet side of the pump?

Ive got a 2 piece section on the outlet side, and its not a large int dia, but i assume its the inlet side which causes the problems?

Can someone point out where the problem fitting is?

Cheers.

good info stu,

might save some one on here a costly rebuild.i always advise changing fuel pump after a rebuild or stage upgrade.i melted a 10k rebuild a few years ago because engine ran lean when four up chasing a gtir down the motorway.expensive way to find out fuel pump was not running at full capacity.tested at about two litres a min if i remember correctly........

Further to this topic, when we ran out of fittings I commissioned an engineering firm to create one to my own spec instead of buying them in as we had a few complaints about washers being hard to locate when fitting the adapter horizontally, I.e: On the car... so we have created one with an integral washer that has a spiggot fitting so it centralises itself upon tightening.

The result, is this unit:
