They started by doing a run at 5500 rpm on race fuel, and Mark has pulled the plugs out the check them there is evidence of a tiny bit of moisture on plug 4, which shows sign's that the head gasket is starting to let go, so no point in going any further on race fuel, but dave just wants to run pump fuel anyway.
It made 650 lbs on the race fuel, but did not run it at high rpm, so dont know what power it would have made.
Please dont ask me any more technical questions as I have no idea how to answer them, Mark / Dave / Chip will be online later
So now gasket will be replaced and engine in the car !!! And if Mark can get the gasket sorted asap we can take YUM to the ring !

Testing the future
very good result that will make one hell of a road/track car
don't take this as critiscm, but it doesn't seem ideal for a topspeed challenge (if that is part of the intention) with power tailing off at the top end is it?

I guess that depends on where what rpm the engine is at at the appropriste speed. Youre not going to be hitting your max speed on the limiter, id imagine dave will gear for 200mph at a fraction past peak power?
Sure Rod will sort that out for him anyway

Pump fuel as in normal UK97 or Shell98/Tesco99?
The local 'ring petrol station is Euro98, not sure how that compares with what fuel you've run it on?
Fantastic results and great to see pump figures

Mark backed rods off a touch when he found the limits of the gasket iirc so id imagine the engine wont be allowed to make the 650ftlbs that it did on the new gasket

Yep, new head gasket fitted, just got to wait for the sump to come back, which i'm hoping wont be long then engine back in and back to mark's to be mapped. Hopefully that will all go smoothly and we will be heading for Germany in her on the 14th May.
I need to find my noise canceling headphones now....

Try not to flame me too much but why has the gasket gone?
I thought this was....engine wise the same spec as Rods, and if his can hack 666lbft and barrel loads of hp why can't this?
By my powers of detectivness, either theres a prob....more than banging a new gasket on is gonna solve or Rods engine is gonna nuke itself, or even worse both!
Am i wrong?
Or maybe wrc gasket dont like race fuel?

Good results. You doing any speed runs with it Dave (i.e. 0-60 top speed). Not wanting to start arguments, etc, but would be interesting to see what a 700bhp 4x4 does

Power or Torque dont kill the gasket but cylinder pressures do, Its to do with how much ignition you add on the race fuel. It could be that my Turbo made the Power with less ignition added on race (ive no idea), I know Mark took ignition out of mine & still made 838. Remember this Turbo is a 750bhp one mine a 1000bhp turbo.

Looks like it will be quite rapid.
Out of interest, what is it that makes the peak power develop at 6500rpm? I thought that maybe a large turbo like that would keep wanting to build BHP. So I am guessing the head or the cams are specced to make a better power spread rather than out and out upper rpm bhp?
All good though and nice to see some new numbers floating about for another very powerful cossie
