mk4's were out well before 90 surely or my car MUST be a fake with it being built in november 1989!!! wasnt it around 87-88 the mk4 came out if not just earlier than that?
clearly talking shit about the early 1990 for mk4 otherwise my cab would be a mk3 and it certainly aint

i was close! ish
guy seems to be really talking shit about when mk4's came out tbh, possible very very late registrationed mk3 but doubtful on that reg to be quite honest. someone's done a facelift on it and hes either on drugs or has been told cack by the old owner that its a mk3 facelift model and he thought from the factory

If you click on his two links he has to 'prove' its a mk3, the 1st one is an american website for the american escort, which is NOTHING to do with the european one. And the second website is just pure balls

i know i might get shot down on this but there is always myths as to what mk of escorts were made,6 or 7 in some cases.if anyone has the duke ford escort history dvd it says that technically the models from 86-90 were a facelift mk3 and the mk4 is the mk5 we all know.If you think about it the shape of the mk3 and 4 as we all know is the same with some new bits on front and rear etc.
does a new mk warrant totally new shape etc
i have a 97 escort which i know as a mk6 but alot of people call it mk7.
very bizarre how there isnt a clear cut answer to the models of escort made

I had a 1982 MK2 escort, that was first registered in 1980, but given a Y reg plate
HHK 366Y, as it was an import, and it did NOT get an age related plate, but one from the year it was imported, maybe similar has happened ?

Our lass was one of the first to email him about it being a mk4 (yes even she knows the difference ) and he emailed her back with the 2 links and told her she had clearly not worked for Ford of Dagenham. Pure tosser, I would love for him to let us read his Q&A's in his listing, they must be endless, everyone keep on at him. CheeRS.

i only ever knew of the mk6 i thought it finished with them... what was changed for the mk7 to be known as it is?
the boy on ebay clearly is in the wrong and was probably informed wrong or as said, watched the duke vid.
same kind of thing with the capri's the mk3 was basically a facelift mk2 so some call it mk2b even though its known as the mk3 widely.

i think the bloke is a little confused ,,, yes its a mk4 but they changed a few features of the car ..... quote
Ford Escort Mk IV ("Mk V")
The fourth generation Escort arrived in September 1990 with an all-new body shell and a simplified torsion beam rear suspension (instead of the Mk III's fully independent layout). Initially the 1.3 L, 1.4 L and 1.6 L CVH petrol and 1.8 L diesel units were carried over from the old model, and were starting to show their age in terms of refinement. However, this model was heavily criticised at its introduction for seemingly cut-price approach to its design (the biggest thing Ford could boast about was the design of its door sealing), and the car was quickly condemned for its mediocre ride and handling, cheap interior and archaic engines. To improve matters, the new Zetec 16-valve engines in the XR3i and the 2.0 L, 16-valve unit (based on the Pinto engine) in the RS2000 appeared in 1992, but specification, however, was higher than before. The Escort was now available with items such as power steering, electric windows, central locking, airbags, antilock brakes and even air conditioning
i think this is where the confusion in his head is

everything looks like a mk4 on the car exept the doors....thay screem at me mk3 giha?
mabey hes looked at some pics on the net of mk3s and mk4s ,found a little bit of info on the models that came out and came to his own conclusion that its was done in a factory.
its more likly that someone has done it them selfes and he dosent want to say that on the add as that wud mean its been played around with by any tom, dick or harry and not a ford profishanal which might put people off from buying it
john
