Default Faded plastics

I've got a red small turbo Escort Cossie as some of you will know, it's got the late style mirrors and they have faded quite a lot. Are there any good products for restoring the original colour to plastics like this, or is it a case of have them painted or replaced?

PS Can anyone tell me roughly how much they are from Ford, assuming you can still get them?

Machine polishing should clean it up if the paint has oxidised?!

The thing is I guess they are moulded in that colour, not painted, so I didn't know whether machine polishing would bring it back, because I don't think it's a case of removing paint layers like it would be on the body. I could easily be wrong though.

If it is painted, someone with a 4 inch pad would do it in about half an hour. If you were closer to me id have done it for you f.o.c. Not a big job at all

the majority off moulded plasic and all off fords is moulded in the colour.i worked as a valeter for the best part of 13 yrs,and worked in various bodyshops, dealers and small garages and picked up a lot over the years
the best way too get the colour back too new is remove all the bits you want too do and get a heat gun..on the lowest setting lightly heat the plastic and you will see the colour coming back..dont get too close or you will melt it.....

The mirrors are painted, not red plastic - get them buffed.

if painted, I brought a faded to pink and in places white!! red escort back to bright red with no more than t-cut and blisters

So if it is painted, get you w*nking arm into viniger stroke mode and see the redness!!

If it is moulded plastic and not painted, do the above. You could spend waht you want on products but gaurunteed a week later it will be faded again. The heat works a treat and lasts too.

They're deffo just painted. If they're laquered then the paint's probably faded underneath so they won't polish, they'll need a spray.
