my girlfriend dad is in hospital since monday.he has fully recovered from cancer after his chemo etc so he was in to get these bags out his kidney that helped him do the toilet.he has been told his kidneys arent working on there own now and might never be able to get them removed.she got a phone call today to say he has caught mrsa now!!!!!!!
what exactly is it and how treatable is it?

Forget all the horror stories, everybody carries the nasty bit that causes mrsa, but it only becomes a problem for some, very treatable, very under controll, so long as caught early enough, he'll be fine.
My dad has recently had all chemo for his voicebox cancer(voicebox removed), over months and months no problem.
It helps being fit and healthy(cancer apart) so should be all ok, I was in hosp 19 months and didn't get anything so they're pretty good.

It's fuck all mate really. Our lass is waiting for a double lung transplant, she caught it around 6 months ago when she went into hospital. We were told most people carry the virus. You have to be tested every time you go into hospital and you need 3 negative test results before your classed as no longer having MRSA. On the up side tho, you can't be put on a hospital ward and must be put into a side room all on your own with your own toilet, not brilliant but I can't think of nothing worse than laying on a hospital bed next to a smack head or a mental case who talks to them self, twittering on and moaning all night!!!!!
my dad "caught" it after his stroke, it affected his eye.
Dont want to worry you but his eye ballooned up to the size of a cricket ball and he lost it.
It's a sorry state of affairs that you can go into hospital with something minor and come out far worse.
