Right i was told yesterday that out of 6 in my team 4 were been made redundent so i cannot afford to edge my bets.
My question is that i am 24 years old and i was interested in doing an apprenticeship in engineering, i know alot of company's are not to kean on taking on older people but i was a vehicle apprentice at 18 but had to quit due to personal issues and since i was 21 i have been working in repair complaints dealing with repair related issues. I am hoping that some people who have started an apprenticeship later on in life may give me some pointers on where to start as the normal routes are not bothered the minute i tell them my age. Also if there are any employers who employ apprentices what you look out for.
Thanks in advance.

I'm also looking into apprentiships and have been struggling just to get them to let apply.
Even though age shouldn't be a factor you always get told you to old, i was even told that directly by the dudes at the job centre.
Another thing is that i dont have good gcse's and for apprentiships they often have minimum requirement....a- c in maths, english, science normally but when i explain that my gcse's were done about 12-13 year ago and aren't really relavant they aren't even interested.
Its fucking annoying i tell thee.

i am based in bath at the moment but can travel within reason, i have A levels as well as GCSE's so that is not the issue.
I have spoken with a few training companies but get the same answer that i am to old and that i have no relevent knowledge even though i worked in a garage for 18 months and have been doing my current job for 3 years.

Apprentices can be made redundant dude. We're getting direct funding now to get apprentices back into work within 3 months of them being made redundant
