Default Engineering Apprenticeships

Right i was told yesterday that out of 6 in my team 4 were been made redundent so i cannot afford to edge my bets.

My question is that i am 24 years old and i was interested in doing an apprenticeship in engineering, i know alot of company's are not to kean on taking on older people but i was a vehicle apprentice at 18 but had to quit due to personal issues and since i was 21 i have been working in repair complaints dealing with repair related issues. I am hoping that some people who have started an apprenticeship later on in life may give me some pointers on where to start as the normal routes are not bothered the minute i tell them my age. Also if there are any employers who employ apprentices what you look out for.

Thanks in advance.
